Maths, music and Mars Ice Cream! biggrin.gif

I concur with the maths and the music, but what is Mars Ice Cream when it's at home?!

Have you never had one? They are deeelicious! Essentially a Mars bar but with icecream filling! wub.gif

I've never even heard of them, never mind had one! It sounds a bit odd if you ask me laugh.gif

They're not a new invention; they've been around for years, but they are an indulgence. Some find them a little too sickly though - depends on whether you have a sweet tooth or not. These I like; the idea of deep-frying a Mars Bar however, does not appeal to me one bit. ill.gif

I have quite a sweet tooth, but I think ice cream and Mars Bar simultaneously would be too much for me laugh.gif however, the idea of deep-fried anything repulses me, so Mars Bars do nothing for that ill.gif

Hahaha laugh.gif I've already been there. I'm considering the baked apples sometime this week, for sure. Though my sudden craving for a Mars Bar ice cream hasn't yet faded - I may just have to give in to temptation! biggrin.gif

Changing tack here....I've just had a Very Nice Lib Dem canvasser knock on the door. I opened the flap and saw this very frightened face. His opening sentence was something along the lines of "Bag? I assume you'll be voting Tory." blink.gif OK, so Bag lives in one of the safest Tory Boroughs ever, so I suppose it was a reasonable assumption to make.

However, I soon put him right and explained I, as a cat, would be voting for the Felix Party. The Felix Party Manifesto being :

"Just, like, pee on everything , man .... and, hey, tuna chunks is the only way to go..."

Wow, that sounds like my kind of line-up. Sadly (for me) I have treated my children to the Capital FM Summer Ball for their birthday presents. Line up: JLS, Dizzee Rascal, Rihanna, Kesha, Cheryl Cole, blah blah blah

I shall bring a good book, I think. happy.gif

LOTF has a number of different stages in various barns and marquees (it really is on a farm) and so there are lots of different styles of music on offer. It also offers spaces to young musicians who have done well in local battles of the bands, so a friend of my son's has been playing there with his band since he was about 15. We'll also be seriously disappointed if the Ukulele Gangstas aren't there this year biggrin.gif

Bit off the wall- but I am happy to have found something that motivates my 11 year old. She is very able- but no threat could ever persuade her to do something.
Well- she has become obsessed with Glee recently- so- if you don't do 5x15 mins piano a week and 3 x 30 mins violin- no Glee on Monday- that worked!
It's the first time she has cared about anything enough to be persuaded in that way! Wish she had discovered Glee last term (maybe not- she has watched the recorded episode from Monday about 6 times and I have heard the plot recounted about 6 times too).

Better go to wake her so she can do her piano practice!
Crotchetymum
Excellent! Bribery that doesn't cost you anything (except your sanity, perhaps, if you have to listen to too many Glee repeats biggrin.gif)

Teaching my Bootleg Beatle for the first time since the end of September - he's been so bizzy with gigging and other stuff - AND he's off again to South America in two weeks' time - but it was lovely to see him again and get stuck back into the old Kodály - as well as having a bit of a Grumpy Old Rant, which always does me good...

Nothing really special - just sat down and read a really good book happy.gif Feeling rather contented now.
pianist_flautist
I was page turning for "Duo Vivo" last night, two international concert pianists from Greece. It was absoloutely fantastic to watch them play, they work incredibly well together and instinctively know what the other pianist means just by looking at eachother! I made one mistake of turning the page too early, which I think upset the pianist a little, but he said it was ok! Brilliant experience! biggrin.gif

Great news Juniper.

Mr Blackbird has been trying to cheer me up lately (job rejection, feeling very homesick after a visit home and a ton of other stuff - poor Mr Blackbird!).

But latest job rejection may have happened for a reason - found out that a career that I am interested in but thought I wasn't qualified for, I am actually qualified for so have decided to now try and persue that avenue.

But, was talking to Mr Blackbird and saying that I would probably have to give up my music lessons altogether until a job appears. The wonderful Mr Blackbird then said there was no way I was giving up my music and that if he needs to, he will pay for my lessons wub.gif smile.gif

Last night I finally plucked up the courage to go along and sing with a local choir - 30 years after my last rejection!. It was great. smile.gif

Have fun Stephie!

I am happy as I can hear the effect of a threat of no Glee coming from the lounge. My 11 year old is up before school- has finished her 15 mins piano and is now doing her 30 mins of violin!

It's impressive - SHE is organising when she will do her practice and if she can't fit it in easily is getting up before school. She has NEVER got up before school to practice. And..... she is practicing independently- she isn't asking me to her help her- and she is practicing properly. I even hear scales.

YAY.... how long will this last? This is the 2nd week. how long is a series of Glee?
