Yesterday - a very good concert accompanying a choir at Sewerby Hall. 60+ in the audience. My solo was Beethoven's 'Farewell to the piano' which they liked so much they asked for a piano solo encore by Chopin! played them the Opus 69/1 waltz - it was the only Chopin piece I could remember without the music. wink.gif

Well done oldnotes. clap.gif yay.gif

Mine's from yesterday too : My teacher and his wife were suitably impressed with the recording of our recital yay.gif He's been showing it to peoples from band!! unsure.gif

He agreed that the concertino was much better than the recording he'd heard previously, that the Mozart was "Lovely!" That we'd done well and that I certainly looked the part too. biggrin.gif His wife said I was very brave!!

He's now talking of doing the concertino with some other clarinettists as a quintet - with me on solo line!! ohmy.gif smile.gif - just for a bit of fun.

Mr B appears to have found my new cd of Vivaldi recorder music has stuck it into iTunes and actually seems to be listening to it. Waking up really early-I was wide awake at 5am, so I got up, did some piano practice for about an hour and a half, did some ballet exercise, was in town for 8am to buy new pointe shoes for dance (yay.gif wub.gif) then got back in about 9.30ish and have since then practiced violin and revised! I can tell it's going to be a great day, and it's not even 11am yet-then, to top it off, I still have four hours of dancing classes, and then I'm going to the house of a very dear friend who I don't see very often tonight! I'm actually insanely happy right now biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Occasionally I'll catch sight of a certain shade of yellow that immediately takes me back to watching Coppelia when I was 11 years old - a school trip for 1st Year (Y7) boys from the town's Grammar School. I remember the stunning bright yellow colour of the dresses; I think worn by about half a dozen ballerinas. smile.gif

I saw such a yellow the other day (someone's outfit*). I thought it's either that 'Coppelia' yellow or ..... resembles the colour of one of the marbles in my collection! - marbles were played avidly at Junior school; many vivid colours. smile.gif

The outfit was worn by Jeanie, on a DVD of Randall & Hopkirk (deceased) - a '70s TV programme. biggrin.gif

Several pieces of Liszt I want to learn - Liebestraum not actually amongst them, as it happens.

Furthermore, the DVDs are all in colour! We only had a black & white TV until 1976.

The first programme I saw on our new (rented) colour TV was a cartoon, Grape Ape laugh.gif

We'd been on holiday in Norfolk, staying in a friend's house. They had a Grundig colour TV - we watched the 'Mark Spitz' Olympic Games in colour and No.1 on TOTP was 'Popcorn', in vivid colour!

"Can we have a colour telly dad? Can we? Can we?" - repeat 100 times! My dad caved in in the end! biggrin.gif

I can't remember exactly when my parents got their first colour TV, but I remember the first time I watched one. I and a friend went to babysit for one of our school Physics teachers in 1970 or '71, and discovered that they had a colour TV - it seemed absolutely amazing at the time, but now of course we take it all for granted.
