Getting a book of old Trinity grade 8 pieces for a pound in the music shop this morning
They'll still be far too tricky, but I'm sure I'll have plenty of fun trying anyway

Watching my son set out to walk the whole way to school by himself (first time) with a big happy smile on his face.
Not today but the whole weekend has left me happy. An away weekend with my band - extreme sightreading practise but fun going through piles and piles of new music. Played sax all weekend and discovered that under the influence of several glasses of red I can do lip slurs...now to work out how to relax that much whilst sober!

First choral practice of the new term! We are doing two Britten pieces, St Nicolas and A Ceremony of Carols, which I wasn't looking forward to (never managed to enjoy Britten), but I sat between two people who'd sung it before, and it really wasn't too bad.
It's lovely to be singing in a big choir again.

And I played pretty well over all.

Ceremony of Carols is one of the Britten works that I
do like - even the piano accompaniment (although harp is admittedly better!).
Britten's
Jubilate is another favourite.
Piano-wise, his set of
Five Waltzes are very much approachable and enjoyable to play as a set.
Holiday Diary is a good deal more difficult though!

1. I had a very difficult meeting today- a mediation meeting within the adults in our scout group- where relationships had really broken down over a couple of years and it went better than expected...
2) Started this term's teaching and it was fun- really enjoyed it
3) daughter no. 1 seems happy back at school- even tho she is undecided as to whether she should give up music as level!
4) Had to go out to meeting straight after tea and when I came back from meeting- husband and kids had finished unloading the dishwasher, cleared away and re filled dishwasher. Really unusual!
5) Just been in the hot tub and it was beautifully starry and I saw a shooting star!
I have been stressed most of the day- preparing for lessons and trying to do out bills etc and stressed about the meeting as the situation had become unbearable, but the day has ended well- so
I am happy now and can sleep!

My last TMA - a 3000 word essay - for my current OU course has just been submitted!
And it's a week early

That's because I'm going on holiday, so I would have had to submit it by Thursday night anyway - so I got the bulk of the work done at the weekend, have done some polishing yesterday and today, hit 3000 words on the nose, and decided that was that, it could be gone

Just an exam to revise for now then (oh, and the course books for the next course to arrive, later this week!)

Not much between that one and Somebody to Love tbh. Practicing them both so whichever is fine by me

Been doing loads of chord playing practice with my teacher (who knew working on a Schumann chorale could help so much with a Glee tribute?)

Thanks guys

it was especially good as my music teacher had told me I was going to fail-he repeatedly told me "I'm hoping for a C, and nothing more, anything higher would be a miracle!"
(My father, when I told him about this, responded with, "Well, did he get his C? I'm surprised he's allowed to teach it if that's the grade he's hoping for...

Hey Madtom- sounds good!
We have had the family of a patient of my husband's-they have kids exactly same age as ours and I met them at the concert of County Youth Orch as we both had kids in it- and all got on really well! I really enjoyed myself- and after teaching for 4 hours without a break- I needed to relax - especially after coping with back to school blues of my kids!
