My new (stranger) housemates have moved back in. Two were already here, one came yesterday, and another is still to come. Two of the ones who are back, however, are music students, and they are playing together downstairs. It is happy-making to know that I'll have plenty of good, live music to listen to this year.

My housemates have made my happy today too, Lucy! I feel very lucky...

Hearing about my Fabey baby's (3 year old cousin) day at school today - he's in nursery , having a big hug from him... and working in the other pub that my boss owns tonight... its like a living room and everyone all talks to each other

lesson tonight although I don't think he's going to be too impressed with how much work I still need to do on Moonlight serenade

and I've just had a very complimentary remark from a colleague

and the sun has just come out lots of for me today

The fact that I have my favourite class tomorrow Which will probably be my reason for being happy tomorrow too, since tomorrow is the DAY of aforementioned class

My very nice Head of Department bought me some flowers!

It's very busy at work, as we are packing up the whole of the two Science departments on our split site ready for the move to our new school, where we'll all be together. Apparently she saw me looking despondent yesterday and thought I needed a treat. Certainly cheered me up!

Listening to Stravinsky's Ragtime this morning then being told it's a reissued recording coupled with The Soldier's Tale with Ron Moody, Tom Courtenay and John Gielgud. I've got this as a cassette recording from an old LP but now I can have it in glorious techi-sound.

I'm just really pleased at how EVERYTHING'S going at university at the moment. [Aside from my flatmates, because they're still idiots. I don't get on well with them at all] But everything in the Music department at university is COMPLETELY AND UTTERLY FAB! I've made some great friends, and I'm loving every moment of my course. I'm just super-excited about it all.

Oh, and I laughed so much today that my tummy hurt. I love that feeling

Early finish from work (6pm instead of 9pm!)

Talking to an old friend on facebook and arranging to catch up

Watching highlights from the Royal National Mod where my pupil got 4th in her fiddle class (12 in the class for under 13's and she was by far the youngest at 10!)

Compliment from a parent of my teaching to someone she doesn't know I know...

Leg isn't sore (always a bonus!!)

Nice chicken pasta and Wine (shhh don't tell the docs!!) with my lovely boyfriend...

All in all a fantastic day!!

Having an unexpected two hours to myself..

A number of things:

- A fun lecture this morning.
- An even funner [oh God of Grammar, smite me now] morning spent with one of my new friends wandering around the music shop.
- A fantastic lunchtime concert in the Music dept.
- And the fact that I'm going home for the weekend.

Oh, and also - I bought a 'Musidoku' book to try. It's 'musical sudoku', and since I adore both music and sudoku I figured I'd give it a go!

I woke up feeling really rubbish - generally miserable and useless.

My best friend popped over on her way home to give me a hug.

That made my day.

Catching up on some much needed sleep

I just sang Phantom of the Opera in a concert. I took the last bar scream-y, three Es above middle C bit down an octave, but someone told me it was the best act in the show, and given the standard of some of the performers, that's a compliment of the highest order... Everyone said it was good, in fact. I missed one note, but all the scary, top of my range ones were really secure. That's made me really happy.

Now I just have to try and do it again tomorrow night.

The fact that the 3 hour cover for a friend at the music club is over. Doing the kids groups were fine- just taking the adult choir is scary!

It's my youngest grandson's first birthday and I have all my family with me today for his party this afternoon . We have a drive full of cars and a house full of people but it is great .
