Going to the local operatic society's performance of The Mikado. The guy playing Ko-Ko was fantastic, and the lady playing Katisha very good too - a real comedy duo. I love G & S! biggrin.gif

agree.gif I've only discovered Gilbert and Sullivan in the past year. I've joined a G&S society this term - I may have to give it up due to lack of time, sadly. Well I probably will. Still, I'll go to all the performances, so that will be good. smile.gif

Ann Widdecombe's Paso Doble. Mum and I laughed until we cried when we saw it live yesterday, and I was equally amused just now when I watched it on iPlayer with no sound.

That alone is worth a whole year's BBC licence.

It would appear that come June, I will still have a job!!!!!!!

My flexible working request for 1 day a week at stupid-London-site and 4 days a week at home has been accepted smile.gif I really didn't think it would be. Apparently my three-sentence medical dispensation request was enough!

Might be a bit awkward as I know colleagues who have had their similar requests turned down (as they don't have medical grounds - "just" young children or a caring responsibility); but we did speak about it before any of us requested and said we wouldn't be narked at one another. Of course, I suspect people will be highly curious at just what my medical grounds are, but there you go.

Trial period in January - shouldn't be a problem for the business, it's really to see if I can cope with it (I might dislike the isolation of four days a week at home, for example).

(I'd go out and celebrate at Greenwich next week, but several vets bills this month and my brother has an upcoming Big Birthday, so I suppose I had better not...)

PS Nearest hire-cycle-stand to Paddington station, anyone?!

Sang one of my gr8 pieces in front of 2 strangers at the beginning of my lesson, it was brilliant (teacher didn't have anything to comment on) and I DIDN'T SHAKE - at all!! I am soo happy as I have a full rehearsal tomorrow for recital monday and I now KNOW I can do it and am confident about a performance for the first time in my life. Teacher actually swapped the piece in for another in the recital, it was that good. It's a biggie for me blush.gif

Well since you're going to miss out on cycling to work 4 days a week, perhaps you should cycle the whole way biggrin.gif

I will be "cycling to work" 4 days a week - I have a ten mile circuit and a thirteen mile circuit in mind, I will get up at the same time as I do now, cycle my 'commute', and then start work about the same time as I do now. Just all based around my home instead of having to go somewhere biggrin.gif

I think I am happy today...
i) last night we semi-finalised my Grade VI programme (anyone who heard my list C piece at St Albans...it isn't my list C piece any more!)
ii) this morning when my husband was in the shower it got all very noisy and sounded like heavy rain...in the house...in the loft space...raining through the ceiling...argh, panic! The valve on the cold water tank has got gummed up and won't close. We managed to rig it shut (propping up the ballc*ck) and I drove to work, collected my laptop, and drove home again! 8am, phoned our plumber. We had him come round in April to quote us for a new bathroom, but he never did the quote, we tried really hard to get hold of him sad.gif But I phoned him and left a rambling message, and he must have listened to it straight away and phoned straight back. And he will be here later on this morning to fix it.
This makes me happy twice - firstly because it will be fixed; and secondly because I can ask him if he would still like to do our bathroom, and if not, could he recommend someone...
Maizie
The plumber has been, and fixed it! So now I have the heating on to try to dry out some damp bits of carpet smile.gif And he's going to pop back one evening next week to discuss doing the bathroom up with us biggrin.gif woot.gif
Sunrise
Rehearsal for recital went OK, a few fluffs and shakes but nothing major....and then on the way home I plucked up courage, stood with my busking flute friend and sang Lark in the Clear Air unaccompanied in the street (Gr8 trad song)!! Lots of people slowed and listened as they went past so it can't have sounded too rough and my friend was blown away by it (he hadn't heard me sing before). I WILL kill my stage fright!!
