PT (Physical training) at cadets - I managed to beat a number of the boys at sit ups and press ups*!
*all right, I did the girl version on knees, but still...
Due to a freak of nature I can do 20 press ups (the non girl version) -- my arms are horribly thin and weedy, but I have hardly any upper body to support with them so that sort of makes up for it.

HAHAHA.... my 12 year old daughter can do many. many boys press ups but she is a gymnast and trains a lot! We were discussing this on the way to school today , how unusual it is for girls to have good upper body strength- but she has to lift another gymnast above her head and carry her (she does the 'Spellbound" type of gymnastics and is a 'base'- ie she lifts others!). I suppose lifting a violin must give you some arm muscles too.....

Spending several hours with arms raised playing an instrument does make a difference - I used to have a lot more arm strength when I was a horn player, and a horn isn't that heavy. Stopping playing the horn has contributed greatly to my arm-weediness..

It was targeted not only at where I am technically in my playing, but also at my current emotional /psychological/motivational state. It took a degree of planning and preparation from my teacher, but I feel SO much better for it!

A really good recital in Driffield Church by Cosima Yu & Anna Peletsis. They played;
Finzi, the 5 bagatelles Rachmaninov, two moments musicaux Op 16 (piano solo) Brahms, No 2 clarinet sonata Stravinsky, three pieces for solo clarinet Schumann, three Fantasiestucke Op 73 Poulenc, Sonata Op 186
All in all, a good money's worth

A lovely walk to the post office this morning and the postmen making a fuss of my dog. Then stopping off at a new park for a game of ball, realising I'd managed to get us lost only for my dog to find the right path that took us back home. She's now fast asleep in her toy box.

I really didn't think I would make it this year, but I'm sure one day I will slip up and it will cost me ?100.

Well done PSL!
I've FINALLY got around to ringing the piano tuner and he is coming around next week.
I've been putting it off for ages as I have been planning on redecorating the lounge for the last year and thought I may as well wait till all the piano moving around was done. But didn't get around to the decorating and the piano sounds truly awful.
Can't wait to have it sounding lovely (or at least slightly better) again!

Well it was really yesterday, but a (very!) last minute decision to come home for the night after an awful couple of days - saw my parents and best friend and went to see my favourite band, plus some sound advice from one of my heroes, the fiddler in said band. All in all, very good for the soul and I'm in a much better place emotionally and mentally
