Thanks solari. We always wonder what has happened to the pets and other animals in any natural disaster.
At least this one got away.

Thanks solari. We always wonder what has happened to the pets and other animals in any natural disaster.

It is interesting that comparatively few animals seem to be hurt or killed in such natural disasters, as those which are free tend to head to higher ground some time before the earthquakes or tsunamis hit.

It seems that for all of our technology we still cannot predict earthquakes, but animals have some form of sixth sense which keeps them out of harms way.

Didn't have to get up early this morning, but after my husband left for work, the cat decided I must surely need to get up for work too.

Got up, put some washing on, went round the corner to the post office and pharmacy to post a card to Australia and pick up some prescriptions - was expecting to do all this in the afternoon so nice to get it out of the way early.

Got home, hung up washing, pottered off to exam centre for Grade 6 exam. Which wasn't that bad smile.gif Actually, I think the journey there was more traumatic as it involved an emergency stop! But the main thing was that I didn't actually hit the van in front (which was also emergency stopping)...got to the exam centre realising that the worst part of the day had probably already happened!!

Drove homewards from exam centre, stopping at the Very Enormous garden centre on the way. They have a car washing service in the car park, so I thought for a treat for my car, I would have it washed while I shopped. I then went to a bench and ate the sandwiches I'd made earlier and taken with me, on the reasonable expectation that with my exam finishing at just-on noon, I would be starving!

Did lots of wandering round the garden centre. Bought 10 strawberry plants, a replacement French lavender, a selection of herbs, a load of seeds for 'microgreens', a few other bits and bobs we needed for the garden. Used ten-pound-off voucher smile.gif Got back to shiny clean car smile.gif

Drove the rest of the way home. Had an ice cream that was lurking in my freezer (my mum brought us a box of them at the weekend...there was one left over. Now there isn't.) I have an essay to proofread and I can go and do some pottering in the garden with some of my new stuff. All in all, a very good day off work biggrin.gif

Maizie, well done!! And LOL the emergency stop might have helped you be less nervous - I find a good dose of adrenaline before lessens the shakes in the performance!! Good luck for a great result!

Had a fun day of orchestra rehearsals - bassoon sectionals involved lots of talking and laughing but not much playing! blush.gif

The bassoon section at our orchestra always seems to be in fits of giggles during the pieces!! tongue.gif

We were too at one point - my friend got lost in the Infernal Dance from Stravinsky's The Firebird, so started to play Three Blind Mice instead, in a different key. laugh.gif

Was asked to play a couple of choir accompaniments for our orchestra solos concert on Friday. Was only given the music last Friday evening and the rehearsal was tonight. After a look at both I passed on the message that one was a possibility and the 2nd was unlikely.
Was very pleased that the manageable one went really well tonight. Ok, it's not what anyone would call difficult but it's a confidence boost for me that I managed to play as well in the rehearsal as I'd been playing on my own at home. smile.gif

Receiving a lovely email from the Head of Department at one of my schools thanking me for everything. I went all pink when I read it (so my stripes completely disappeared). It is taking a huge amount of effort to start to transform the department from something OK into something truly great. And we WILL get there...

smile.gif nice to hear your hard work has been recognised.
