smile.gif I like having cards for my purse .... although I refuse as of yet to have a credit/ debit card... that way it is easier to control spending, as when I want money i have to pay a visit to the bank, which isnt always easy.

nicki_flute
I don't want to get a credit card, but a debit card is useful for me. But I don't have an overdraft, and don't use it unless necessary!
fsharpminor
Its amazing how long credit cards have been going. I think it was 1968 or 69 when Barclaycard started.
Ive had one since before I married in 1971. Never used it for extended credit though, too expensive - Ive always paid mine off every month. I only use my debit card at the cash machines.

Oops Im off thread now, I thought I was in CISD.
nicki_flute
It's ok tongue.gif You could turn it into how recalling the fact that Barclaycard has been up since 1969 made you happy!

Nowt - spent 5 hours in a Board meeting, gazing out of the window watching people enjoying themselves in the sunshine. Had a quick late lunch and went outside, straight into a thunderstorm, and 4 hours later it's only just stopped. Roll on tomorrow. rain.gif

Went to see Westside Story at Sadler's Wells last night and loved it..... and went to see my mum today (she has dementia and is in a residential home quite far away) and she was in a good mood..... she looked up lots, chatted a bit and even kissed me on the cheek when I left! It was lovely as she's very up and down and because she lives so far away (I was staying at my big brother's after my night out in London- she's in Surrey and I live in Somerset!!!), I can't get to see her much and if I go in and she's not communicating at all, it makes you feel not great.....

not too scathed... a close thing, but a very lucky escape, caught it just in time. No further treatment, no injections, no drugs .... wow!

I think that makes another 7 lives left if luck goes my way... so ... now on a mission!!

That brings back memories - my kids used to love Jumanji, but it's terrifying! I could never ever pick up a box on a beach now!

Ah... this was more a case of me being determined I would give everything up so that I could help everyone else.... now I realise that I can do both... carry on my studies etc, and still be there....

Hard yes....
but possible.

I'm happy today because I've just had my first violin lesson in nearly three months (school holidays) and it was inspirational, delightful, levelling and encouraging!!!

I'm not going to take an exam this term because of health problems so we're going to work on aspects of technique (like double stopping and positions) and play lots of little baroque concertos, duets and lots of fun stuff like folk and jazz (and some scales blush.gif ) ...

...before I went out I wasn't sure I even wanted to keep playing, because I thought I sounded like rubbish, and now I know that I DO want to keep playing and I realise just how much I LOVE playing.

Now that has to be a good thing laugh.gif rolleyes.gif party1.gif
