Early morning music practising! I have a late meeting this evening, so I went in to work a bit later (at the local site) in order to make up for that.
We live in a semi, and I practise in a room on the opposite side of the house to the party wall. The people next door are a man and his son and daughter. Man and daughter are currently away (back in Hong Kong, where wife/mother of the family lives!) Son is on his own, and I think in the gap between school and university (the daughter is slightly older but still of university age; as far as we can gather - having not directly asked - they moved over here for the secondary/tertiary education of the children). Anyway, there I was getting ready for work, and I spied the son from next door leaving the house to go to work. So, I knew the adjoining house was empty. Result - despite it being prior to 8am, I felt OK to tootle, meaning I don't lose out on today's practice because of the stupid late meeting smile.gif
I don't think 8am and the French violin clef work together though... wacko.gif (why is it so hard? It's just the same as bass clef and so should be straightforward; it just isn't!)

And yesterday, just as I was driving home, my car radio stopped working - all FM stations just died. I have discovered online that this is fairly simple - the aerial cable has basically wobbled out (fits entirely - I'd just gone over a speed bump when it all died!) Easy to fix, if I did but have the devices for getting the radio out of the dashboard...well, I just phoned my mechanic and he's going to take a look tomorrow lunchtime for me (he's probably nearer to me than a shop that can sell me the devices!)

Yesterday I played my first 'thing' from memory!!! Every since I was a child memory has been a major issue for me so I struggled through with scales but could never memorise pieces.

Now as an adult-learner on a new instrument I'm about the same - struggling with scales but everything else is hopeless.

HOWEVER... I had my viola at the luthier for a check-up and played the first half of the Ashokan Farewell from memory!!! biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

There's hope for me yet laugh.gif

Just got the lid of my piano (or the 'volume control' as Mrs Mole refers to it) delivered back from the re-furbishers. wub.gif

It needed refurbishing as it had not been properly furbished when I bought the piano!

Got back safely from our trip to the dental clinic. Actually managed to find the motorway to come home on. Last time we missed it - I mean how can you not find a motoway ???

Feeling a bit less happy, however about the fact that we have to go back again next week and the bill is going to be 1500 euros!

My end of module assignment is now 19 words under the limit - it was 1500 over when I started editing it this morning. Just need a final proof read tomorrow then tidy up the layout a little, assemble the zip file and submit. It will even be early (but only because the OU moved the deadline)

I even parallel parked it the other day...

I had a day of reading the weekly classic car mags and generally chilling out after a hectic day yesterday. Not felt too well but have had a total "day out" of the "real" world. biggrin.gif

No pupils or music practise, no work on cars, no stress of any kind.

Been out to see a Spitfire which wasn't very good and took a few deliveries and generally been out on a drive in the Stag. biggrin.gif

Misti - you are an intelligent person from what I can tell (far more than I) so parking will be no trouble for you with a little experience biggrin.gif You learn to DRIVE once you've PASSED the test after all. smile.gif
