Early morning music practising! I have a late meeting this evening, so I went in to work a bit later (at the local site) in order to make up for that.
We live in a semi, and I practise in a room on the opposite side of the house to the party wall. The people next door are a man and his son and daughter. Man and daughter are currently away (back in Hong Kong, where wife/mother of the family lives!) Son is on his own, and I think in the gap between school and university (the daughter is slightly older but still of university age; as far as we can gather - having not directly asked - they moved over here for the secondary/tertiary education of the children). Anyway, there I was getting ready for work, and I spied the son from next door leaving the house to go to work. So, I knew the adjoining house was empty. Result - despite it being prior to 8am, I felt OK to tootle, meaning I don't lose out on today's practice because of the stupid late meeting

I don't think 8am and the French violin clef work together though...

(why is it so hard? It's just the same as bass clef and so should be straightforward; it just isn't!)
And yesterday, just as I was driving home, my car radio stopped working - all FM stations just died. I have discovered online that this is fairly simple - the aerial cable has basically wobbled out (fits entirely - I'd just gone over a speed bump when it all died!) Easy to fix, if I did but have the devices for getting the radio out of the dashboard...well, I just phoned my mechanic and he's going to take a look tomorrow lunchtime for me (he's probably nearer to me than a shop that can sell me the devices!)
