Hi

I'm planning to go to the Belstead Woodwind Ensemble Course, and would like to know, if anyone else is going from the forum this year. I am planning to get the train into Ipswich, but I am also looking into the possiblity of getting a bus to the actual place...does anyone know if buses go up that way? I think it would work out cheaper than going by taxi.

Can't go this year, I'm afraid, and it'll very much depend on when it is in April '09 as to if I can go then too, I've already got a chunk of April '09 booked up...

Jo.clarinet has told me this is a lovely venue, and I'll have to go sometime. smile.gif Public transport there does appear to be very minimal though, no trains, and very, very few buses. I should think you'll have to get a taxi from Ipswich Michelle, which sadly isn't the cheapest form of transport...

I have booked to go... and I expect I shall go by car..
depending on arrival times I should think lifts could be arranged.

Have you asked the organiser about getting there - the final part of the journey?

Short answer: YES!!!!

Longer answer: Yes, it lived up to all my expectations and more.....music was good, company was good, the two tutors were excellent, I learned loads, accomodation was good, food was very good (and plenty of it) and the learning sessions were good.

First experiences I had were:

Getting up by 7.30 am to go to the Early Bird warm up session before breakfast!

Playing in a chamber group (a quartet ) with another clari and two flutes! clarinet.gif clarinet.gif flute.gif flute.gif

Doing a solo improvisation in one of the pieces! (Misty)

Having a go on a bass clarinet! I managed to play a scale!

Special thanks to SaxFan for giving me a lift to Belstead from Ipswich station and again a lift back at the end of the course....and to Elizabeth for organising such a great time and getting two great tutors to lead us all! Here's to next year (looking forward to it already)

Hi Morgan's Munchkin

I'll PM you with the details of Elizabeth Martyn (who organised the event) so you can keep up to date with what she sorts out for next year. I think there is going to be another one next year sometime.
