How old are you? there are several routes into teaching. You could take a music degree and then an additional year of study (a pgce) which will teach you how to plan and deliver lessons to the specific age group you want to teach. Or you could do a teaching degree combined with music.
Most teaching courses expect you to be grade 8 standard on at least one instrument and show an enthusiasm for teaching, they will expect you to have at least visited a secondary school to observe lessons so that you know what you are letting yourself in for. Secondary teaching is in the most part croud control, dont think that its an idealistic way of inspiring young people, it can be for a small percentage, but in my experience most pupils take music because they think it will be easy and they'll be able to mess around. Its a difficult job so you need to be tough and certain as to why you are doing it.

The job involves planning and delivering lessons to age ranges 11 to 18, and usually involves extra curricula activities such as organising school bands/choirs and concerts.

If you are old enough to be considering applying to universities etc then there is a programme in place where you can visit certain schools and observe lessons to make sure it is for you.
More details are on www.canteach.gov.uk (I think thats the right address).

Hope this helps

Um.. wouldn't that include doing GCSE then A level, then a degree, then a PGCE if you wanted to work for a music service?
