Since we're all such a musical bunch...i was wondering whether you lot have got any bands on the go? Semi-famous? Already famous? Fledgling?

I made a new one with some mates the other week and did some crappy recordings with just a mic...So it'd be much appreciated if you'd check it out, have a listen and tell us what you think? I'm singing and playing second guitar.

I hope this doesn't count as advertising...the main point of this thread is just to get to know what others are doing about bands...but delete this if it does against the rules!

Rather than let this disappear with no comments - and it's horrible for that to happen when you've taken a bold leap to broadcast your efforts. (I know) In the words of Roy Scheider "We're gonna need a bigger..." microphone in this case... The sound quality is letting you down.

I've experimented with a few different mics, even shelling out a fortune on a SN58 or summat - must e-bay it, gathering dust somewhere... the best result I had for the least outlay was a tie-pin mic from a well known electronics retailer that cost a tenner, with the Audacity recording software which is free.

There you go. Try again I think, and the best of luck with your band. smile.gif

Yeh, they're only supposed to be like, draft songs which give people an idea of how we're supposed to sound. we just plugged a cheap mic into a laptop and mixed used Audacity.

When we find a drummer we'll go to a studio and get proper ones done.

I used to be in a fledgling ceilidh band, The Radioactive Bananas. I don't they've performed since I left, although we only performed twice whilst I was with them...it was more a gathering of kindred spirits than a 'band'. The experience is great though, definitely worth the effort. smile.gif

I used to play with a ceilidh/barn dance band for a while, but I personally didn't feel it was the right place for me and also I had alot of other commitments, so I left at the end of last summer. Had a great time though and learnt alot!!
I'm definately hoping to start up a band at some point through college/uni, when/if I meet like minded people, probably in the kind of folk/roots/celitc type genre smile.gif

So if anyone's in my area and interested in getting together to do that kind of thing wink.gif

yeh my first band broke up last year because of artistic differences

my drummer and bassist were metal heads tongue.gif

you can imagine how that turned out....plus my bassist had some really weird obsession with bass lines that sounded like something out of the medieval times
