Oooo my Grade 3 is on the 17th ohmy.gif biggrin.gif Ulp With a practice with the pianist on the 16th!

I'm definitely not distinction material this time so a respectable pass would be delightful.

I've been listening to the Grade 4 pieces already though and they sound great! But what an amount of scales!!!!!

But, for Grade 3 I'm just wishing for my shifting to be smooth (please), my bow not to bounce when I shift (please) and my vibrato not to freeze-up but stay relaxed and smooth (please) laugh.gif

Mine's on the 19th.
My first violin exam ever ph34r.gif And this time last year, i hated violin and would never have thought of even considering playing it.
It feels so very weird ph34r.gif
But i feel quite confident and i'm sort of looking forwards to it smile.gif

Though i'm so frustrated with my pieces. I can play them to an ok level but i can't get them good mad.gif I can play the grade 6 pieces much better than i can play the grade 4 pieces. I've just reached this point with my grade 4 pieces where it seems impossible to get them any better, and i'm so sick of them laugh.gif Playing the same songs over and over every day sleep.gif
Scales... are ok. I know them all. Well i know the notes, i know where to put my fingers, but whether or not i actually put them in the right place is a different question laugh.gif With my scales, they're either perfect or disastorous.

Good luck with your exam, i'm 100% sure you'll do REALLY well, i know i don't know you laugh.gif but it seems you've worked so hard biggrin.gif And i'm really impressed that you can do vibrato at grade 3! ohmy.gif

Good luck!! violin.gif

I'm sure you'll do great, Lottie. Never mind about the vibrato though, you don't need to demo that until G5, so if you can pull it off to any decent standard in G3, I'd say you will be in line for a more than respectable pass!

It hadn't even crossed my mind before my grade 5 that I might be 'distinction material', and I was...you still have a few weeks, I'm sure you'll do really well! smile.gif

ARGH!!!

My exam is tomorrow!! I still can't play my pieces, my vibrato sucks, and my scales are non-existant.

I'm soooo going to fail!!

I'm sure you'll be fine...... smile.gif Good luck!

My grade 4 is on the 27th - I'm fairly relaxed at the mo but that's bound to change as the date gets closer! laugh.gif

What pieces are you doing Ffliwt? I'm doing A1, B3 and C3. Exam should be 'interesting' as my bowing isn't consistent at the moment so let's hope the examiner doesn't stand too close! ph34r.gif

Good Luck!!

Don't even mention bowing to me - I've managed to completely write off 3 bows in the last few months!!

Might take a spare into the exam with me tongue.gif

LooneyTunes, i'm nearly doing the same as you. I'm doing A1, B3, and C2. The slower part of B3 (well not slower but you know like 3/4 of the way down the first page laugh.gif) is always so out of tune for me >_< And i ALWAYS start off the piece horrendously out of tune, but correct it about a quarter of the way through =/

How did your exam go Morgan's Munchkin? biggrin.gif

I have a love-hate relationship with B3! laugh.gif The main part I need to work on is the section that begins on the last line of the first page (before the tune repeats) - fun and games..... rolleyes.gif

Well I did a fantastic exam of how to muck up an exam yesterday!! I know for a fact that I haven't passed!! My pieces were really shaky and my intonation was terrible. My scales were non-existant and I had to give up on a couple, my sightreading didnt contain a single right note or rhythm, and my aural wasn't great.

Oh well - will just have to start learning the new syllabus stuff for next term.

Yeahhhhhh my exam is over!!! laugh.gif

What lovely examiner we had - he was young and charming and put everybody at ease while being efficient and kind all at the same time wub.gif I just hope his marking is not harsh to compensate!!! laugh.gif

I enjoyed the exam but not as much as last time. I completely fluffed two scales; my chromatic was totally 'out' on the way down and ended with a whole tone and my Dmajor was so out of tune over the shift that I winced! My E maj arpeggio with slurs had a huge bow screech in the middle sad.gif

The pieces were okay but the first one had quite a few bow squeaks and some bounce party1.gif The second one, Jeanie with the light brown hair, had a few notes badly off-pitch (unfortunately because it's very noticeable). The third one was quite good fun.

Aural and sight reading were okay but I may have made a huge gaff in the last aural question... I can't remember what I said!!!!

So, overall, NOT a distinction this time but it was still really good fun and we had wonderful coffee and cake to celebrate afterwards.

Now.... where did I put the Grade 4 book?...... ph34r.gif rolleyes.gif

Glad it went well, Lottie. The parts which you think weren't brilliant were probably better than you think. Good luck for the results! smile.gif
