I'm well scared. I have a university audition/interview next week and nothing seems to be going right. the two pieces I want to play which i know I can play just don't seem to be happening anymore and i'm supposed to have done some observation at a school (I'm applying for Music Education) and I haven't been able to arrange any.

i'm just really worried now that it's all going against me and I won't get it sad.gif

You definately have the ability to do it, so don't let your nerves get in the way smile.gif Although i know that's a lot easier to say than do!
Is there not any last minute observation work you can fit in? Or is there any way you can get around it - have you ever done any teaching, or did you go to a school for work experience, etc.?
Good luck, and be confident. You'll do great! biggrin.gif

I did go to a school for work experience (it was a very long time ago though). I have also worked in a school but not as a teacher (I was a school receptionist for 8 months) so working in a school environment is not too worrying. I'm just worried that they'll think that if I haven't arranged anything I'm not interested.

the problem I had was I got the letter the day before half term. I left it with my tutor at college to help sort something out as he has lots of contacts in the local schools. However, last week I wasn't in college because my mum was ill and now I'm worried it'll be too late unless he can get something for next monday or tuesday (my days off).

I'm probably worrying over nothing.

well only five days to go and I'm still well nervous!! ill.gif

I've definately decided on my two pieces. They total to 4 minutes 17 seconds so within the five minute guidelines. My tutor on my course now is going to go through some aural tests with me tomorrow and the head of the department is going to write a letter for me to take with me becuase I haven't been able to sort out the observation in a school but I have some work experience lined up to start in the next few weeks.

We'll all be cheering you on , Kat. goodLuck.gif

Which pieces are you playing?

I've decided on spirituoso from Telemann fantasia #8 and Stomping Flute by Alan Bullard (it's in the 50 for flute book).

I thought they'd be contrasting enough and both are solo so I thought they'd work.

I GOT A PLACE!!! WOOOHOOOO!!!

I've got a conditional offer.

The conditions are

pass grade 5 theory (need to find out how to enter it!!)
take some piano lessons
pass my HND.

Well done, hope you manage to meet all the criteria of the offer. smile.gif

Great news, Kat! The audition must have gone really well.

Have you done some theory before? I'm sure you can enter yourself online - check out the ABRSM site.

I did the prep work for grade 5 when i did my a level but never entered the exam . Then I found out that because I had a level music I was exempt from it so I never took it.

I'll have to dig out the workbooks again and get cracking I think.
