Hello, i'm 15 and I've recently just started up a sax quartet with my friends, and its fantastic but we dont have that much music arranged for quartets. Does anyone belong to one or know where I could find good music? The arrangement is one soprano two altos and a tenor.

Karen Street has done a lot.
Whoever wrote 'the fairer sax' has written a huge amount of quartet work. SAAT music just doesn't exist though, and the Soprano will have to double the tenor part an octave higher. Most Sax quartet music is AAAT, AATB or SATB.

Excellant that you playing in a quartet, hope you have lots of fun. Try surfing the net for midi files of quartet arrangements then just print and play. I'm also in a sax led quartet, we just played a gig tonight at one of our regular local Italian restaurants. Here we are-

The one with the sax on the fair right? Hmm, thats my guess anyway! Looks like a good band - I wish we had a double bass player! Hope the gig went well.
Ill try looking on some sites later for music - thats a good idea. We're entering a Youth Ensemble competition soon so I need to find a good piece! Thanks for the advice. Anna.

I'd place a fair bet on TenorClef being the double bass player

Wow well that was a surprise - the guitar player!!
Yup Ive got two of the Karen Street books - they're really good. Sometimes we have a baritone - but me (soprano) the altos and the tenor are a permanent thing so I suppose we're reasonably flexible in what we can play.

Hi there....i run a sax group at the school where i teach and have found some useful arrangements for them from www.soundthetrumpets.co.uk
Their arrangements are primarily for 4 altos but have extra parts included for Sop instead alto 1 and tenor instead of alto 4.
They also list the aprox grades of he pieces. The company are very fast and always efficient.

Hoorah!! We got into the final of the competition. I played one of the Karen Street pieces in the end, and we are playing Golliwogg's Cakewalk for our final piece.

Hmmph! Got beaten by a private school gospel choir! They had two fab lead singers but the backing was terrible. They all looked like they were about to cry with boredom when they were on stage. We played very well though, and the audience started clapping throught the last piece! and 3 people said they thought we should have won which was sweet. Never mind, we got to the final so we are in the top three in the county. Thanks for everyone who's asked about it
