hey, just did my grade 7 piano exam.

My pieces were pretty dam good I think!

My normal scales were good, so were the chromatics, the thirds, the sixths, well, everything APART FROM arpeggios!! I knew we had to do 1st inversion and no normal arpeggios, but the exanimer didn't say so...so I did normal arpeggios and being the idiot I am I didn't say anything! then he said 'have you done the 1st inversions' and I was like 'yea, I practised them', then he was like, ok C minor 1st inversions, did it fine, then he asked for Bb minor, I played the major one in 1st inversions, then he went, oh, that sounded major, I was like oops sry i'll do minor, then did minor in the normal way!!! (not 1st inversions)

all very stressfull

but I'm hoping that the pieces and other scales, and a few aurels/sightreading will pull me through!

It's so annoying when you know all the scales then it doesn't go to plan - that's happened to me before too!

Well done, Will! It's rare for absolutely everything to go swimmingly, so just forget the arpeggios now and concentrate on the many good points of your exam. I'm sure you'll get a great result.

hehe, the first scale which I played I said, in a quitish way , sh*t, just to myself he went red and looked like he was upset that i had gone wrong, emotional blackmail at it's highest level

awww - i'm sure it will be great: sounds like the examiner was very good natured!
hopefully i'll have one like that; my exam's on the 27th (also gd7).....hence why i came on here; for a bit of musical inspiration and general chit-chat!

CONGRATS Will! I did my G7 piano in november and just scraped 130! a little disappointing from grade 6 (136) but i had a strict examiner especially for the pieces. Grade 8 scales are a KILLER!

have you started the pieces yet? would be good to compare..........
