i did my violin grade 8 exam on march 4th and i was wondering if anyone did their exam around the same time, and if they hav their results yet?! (imr eally worried about mine, i messed up my ural BIG time!! wacko.gif )

also, how do you access them online? it sasy you need a candidate number and a password?! where do you get those from?!

thanx

Only the person who entered you for the exam (probably your teacher?) has access to results online. My son's teacher e-mails them through to him as soon as she gets them though.

Results seem to arrive any time up to four weeks after the exam, although you may well get yours soon now. Try to relax about it, and I hope you get a nice surprise when they come. smile.gif

I did my grade 8 on 4th March too (but on flute!) I am also really scared because the last exam I did was only grade 5 and I got 141, so now a great many people are expecting something marvellous. I haven't got a clue how I got on, and I'm really nervous about getting my results. I have peripetetic lessons, so won't get my results until after the Easter hols, which is annoying as they could be sat in school already!

Oh and as for aural, I'm sure everybody messes at least one bit of it up as at grade 8 level it suddenly becomes inhumanly difficult. And who cares what it modulated to anyway! On the plus side, even if you only get 12 on aural you can still get a distinction.

Good luck on getting your results!

Well, my exam was this afternoon, so the results won't be out til the first week of the April holidays. Which means I probably won't find out until almost the end of April, as my teacher's going to be away.

Aural wasn't too bad. :-)
Scales were abysmal. I made stupid slips in almost all of them.
Sight-reading was a mess, but it could've been even worse.
Pieces went OKish, though I lost the sound a bit in places.

The examiner was very nice and I felt rather sorry for him as I'm making a lot of horrible sniffly, throat-clearing noises which are annoying everyone else around me and the scales must've been outright painful to listen to.

I think he thought I was an idiot, cos I said some really stupid things in the aural. There had to be a better way of explaining why it wasn't romantic than pointing out a lack of "wild chromaticism". :-(

Don't worry about what everyone else expects. As long as you did the best you could and are happy with what you did, that's all that matters. Grade 8 is way more demanding than grade 5, so getting there at all is quite an achievement in itself. If you get another awesomely high mark, cool! But don't stress out about it if you don't - it's probably a lot rarer to get that kind of mark at grade 8.

I'm actually kinda looking forward to tackling grade 8 aural. Or at least, I /was/...
Now I'm thinking I may be in for a nasty surprise.
What are the worst bits of it?

Oh dear! If you think it's bad then there's no hope for me. :-(

I thought of something else I did today that probably made the examiner think I'm very stupid. I couldn't figure out how to adjust the music stand - it didn't have any bits to twiddle. Eventually worked out that you just kinda shove the sections together.

Apparently some of the theory results are starting to come out already!

Do this term's practical results seem to be coming out faster than last term's?

Lol. I think the examiner thought i was a bit stupid as well. especially with the aurals because i didn't know what to say the piece of music was for! Brain freeze! laugh.gif But i do feel sorry for putting her through listening to my B piece Because i think it lasted 3 minutes happy.gif

But good luck everyone on your results and well done biggrin.gif
