Full Version: Amateur Musicians Play Day

Hi, happy bank holiday!

I'm new to my area and I thought a good way of getting involved in the local scene would be to organise a local 'play day' where music students of all instruments can come and give a performance (solo/chamber music) and receive a short masterclass afterwards from a professional musician. The plan would be to have seperate concerts for strings, winds, brass, keyboard and voice and have a specialist musician for each category who could give a good lesson to each person who takes part in each concert i.e. a strings specialist, a wind specialist etc. We could even have a class the day before on stage presentation as this is so often something that lets students down.

The main aim would be to give local children a chance to perform, but there is no reason why it couldn't work equally well for amateur musicians. Would you be interested if such an event were available to you?

It is likely that, due to the cost in putting an event like this on, there may have to be a fee involved to take part - but then you all pay for your lessons! I have no particular figures in my head at the moment as this is a plan that has only come into my head in the past couple of days, but how much would you be willing to pay or consider a reasonable sum to pay to take part in such an event?

Many thanks.

I'm not meaning to put a dampener on your enthusiasm but it is against forum rules to cross-post...sorry!

sorry, I didn't realise. I was just trying to get different perspectives from the different people who may be interested in such an event.

if any mods wish to delete any of these posts, go ahead...

If it's something that's likely to interest more than one group of people, often the general music forum is the place to put it. I would wager most, if not all forum users will visit there.

In the meantime, it looks like most people have replied to the parent's thread. smile.gif
