laugh.gif Don't forget Jeannie, Gerald. She's one of the quieter members but she has most definitely been in your car. Spooky... ph34r.gif

Now this is really scary, Miss Ross. unsure.gif If I am driving I don't drink, and so I should be in a position to remember who gets in and out of my car, but I don't recall anyone named Jeannie....

And now there appear to be others around - Norma, Maddie Trams. who else?? Do you think I should start reading the OLTVA thread, or shall I just keep away for safety's sake? blink.gif

QUOTE(skylark @ Feb 28 2009, 02:20 PM) *
biggrin.gif Rest assured that Great Aunt May will be there and I think she and Lavvy are planning to whisk you away to the Camel Club on the Friday night. Addy and Maddy will also be at Anglesey, and Liddy is hoping to be there too.

Looking forward to seeing you again biggrin.gif

I don't mind being whisked away, but in view of The Old Lady's posting, I do hope May doesn't have sticky mitts that evening. (Mind you, there are probably times when Mrs Gerald might think it was a good idea tongue.gif )

I'll have to make sure she doesn't come with me then. Just to keep Gerald safe rolleyes.gif
Skylark, are you bringing a whisk??
If you read the OLTVA Gerald, suspend all logic, sense and decorum. laugh.gif

In case any of the OLTVA are reading this and get the wrong impression, the practice was for our duet at Anglesey smile.gif . I did open the door, and the practice went so well we have ended up with not one but two duets to play, plus The Old Lady rehearsed her flute solo with me accompanying on piano.

Must go now, have to revise for my Theory Exam on Thursday eek.gif is it that soon??

Been away from this forum for ages n ages!!

For some reason I had tomorrow in my diary for Anglesey event (even though I knew something about the opera visit and knew that was later in the month!)

Anyway I'm now double booked for Sat 21st (well since October really) as I am in Guide Leader training 10-3 (training rather than being trained) and then have an optician's appointment at 4pm.

Can't even make the KatyJay recital as I will be in Clarinet Choir in Menai Bridge on Sunday afternoon.

######!

Oh well, you'll all no doubt have a good time and I'll just have to try to get to Stalybridge in July instead.

Notmusimum - Fifi wasn't sure about the duet, and even her teacher couldn't suggest anything around the right standard (ie not g1!) - maybe next year. She's in Gwynedd-Mon orchestra 10-3 on 21st anyway, as they have the termly concert the following week.

Petra - couldn't persuade Beti bach to bring the harp - will work on her for next year too!

Play well and be happy!!

Lynne
barry-clari
Thanks for the good wishes : hopefully I'll see you and your clari at Stalybridge. smile.gif

Aw, that's a pity sad.gif It seems ages since I last saw you, and I was looking forward to seeing you again this year.

Good luck with your clarinet playing anyway, and hopefully see you again sometime clarinet.gif

It looks like the Puppet Opera may not fit into the programme this time as we have a lot of other items to include. There may be an opportunity for someone to volunteer to play the part of a dead body though in one solo item. biggrin.gif

Does it involve any singing? unsure.gif
petrat
No, old bean, it's a DEAD body.

Actually we may use a puppet for that in case a real body makes the singer laugh in a tender and moving moment.

One important piece of info about this event:

Petrat has just made the post opera supper chocolate cake!
The Old Lady
Is this a ground breaking calorie-less chocolate cake??
Bev
petrat
No. It's full of them! There will be a fresh fruit salad and home made yogurt for the healthy ones though.

I shall have both! laugh.gif

Proper cake then. Goody tongue.gif

You have given me a terrible choice to make - I really want to have my cake and eat it howDoYouDo.gif .

If it is any consolation, Barry, I had to play my flute piece at a little concert organised by my teacher for her pupils taking exams soon. It certainly showed me which bars I need to practise smile.gif . I have one more lesson on Wednesday and what's the betting she will ask me to play it again for her?

I bet you'll be fine come Saturday. smile.gif

If Handel were alive, I hope he'd approve of my performance...

Ratty dear. Will there be time to change for the opera if we wanted to, or should we come to the concert in our opera clothes??

I shall be at the opera on Friday evening but am going to collect the church keys that afternoon. On Saturday morning I shall be up and about very early to take the piano over and to set out the seats etc. Katyjay and the accompanist for the Sunday recital will be rehearsing in the church and the hall will be available for groups to run through their stuff. The pianist will then have the church for solo item run-throughs and afterwards we will let her go home for a rest.
There will be a running buffet and our concert will begin at around 1.30 pm. That will give us lots of time to finish and tidy the hall before the opera.
I suggest that all of the opera gang drive to the Rattery after the forum event and leave their cars there. We will be travelling on to Llandudno in two vehicles and then back for supper to the Rattery afterwards.
We will need to leave by 5.45 from the Rattery to give us plenty of time park in the theatre park before it gets too full and to get seated and have a good nose through the programme.

Supper menu:

Soup and garlic bread.

Leeks in cheese sauce, local sausages, a pasta dish for the veggies, green salad, jacket spuds, onion marmalade. If you don't fancy any of this you can make your own butties!! biggrin.gif

Fresh fruit salad with home made yogurt.

Local ice cream.

Chocolate cake.

Best wishes to all who are attending. Wish I could be there. sad.gif

You will love the WNO’s Figaro. Mrs Mole and I went to see it in Southampton last Friday. The singing was excellent (I was just a shade disappointed by their “Barber” last Autumn, but I thought this was fine throughout).

I won’t tell you how it ends, ‘cos that might spoil it for you! tongue.gif

No programme until the day. It will be a surprise!

I will be at the church by around 8.45 am to set up. We have some small ensembles to run through and the grand finale to work on so we'll begin as soon as everyone arrives.

Petra, I don't know Anglesey - is Saint Andrew's church easy to find in Benllech?

I would hate to miss the event laugh.gif

katyjay
Last year's directions, for those that want them this year biggrin.gif

QUOTE(petrat @ Mar 6 2008, 01:31 AM) *

Directions to Benllech:

Anglesey is easy to find! Just follow the signs for Holyhead.
When you cross over the Menai Straits and onto Anglesey itself do not take the first left turn left towards Llanfairpg. Take the second slipway to the left on the road towards Amlwch. Turn right at the top of this slipway and go straight ahead. You will come to a roundabout at a pub called The Four Crosses. take the second turn off this roundabout. This will take you straight to Benllech. You will pass through the village of Pentraeth. Do keep to the 30 limits here. there are fixed cameras and often a man in a van. ph34r.gif Continue through Pentraeth and on for a couple of miles or so and you will reach Benllech. hurrah.gif There is a small shopping precinct on the left with a parking area infront. St Andrews Church is on your right opposite this. Give it a wave as you pass. If you are staying at Rhianfa Farmhouse you will have passed it a couple of hundred yards back on your right. Oops! If you are staying at Sea View B & B take the right turn past the church by the fish and chippy and opposite the garage. Sea View is at the end of this road and right on the sea front. If you are staying in Moelfre carry on through the village of Benllech and keep going for a couple of miles. At the next roundabout turn down into Moelfre by taking the second turn down the hill. (Don't take the smaller road straight ahead.)

petrat
Cheers KJ. That has saved my a job.

Just as a reminder for me as much as anyone else: There is a small baroque ensemble with parts for flute, violin, tenor recorder , cello and harpsichord, a flute group that Andante will be bringing parts for, (Walk like that or this or something similar, )a piece for larger recorders, a premiere of a new work for recorders written by one of the younger members, a finale of a Purcell chorus with parts for flutes, clarinets, cello, recorders and tambourine by special request of a certain musical horseman, there will be a digital piano there as well as my Yammy keyboard which can become lutes, harpsichords, etc, a tambourine, a CD player and a running buffet. The body will be played by Rover and I am sure that everyone will have their music and instruments all sorted too. There will be some music stands available but please bung one in if you have room.
See you all on Saturday morning if not before.
gedall40
Thank you Katyjay - now you are going to have to listen to me playing the flute biggrin.gif
