Full Version: I've Got A New Headjoint

I went to Croydon today with katyjay. We both came out clutching nice red carrier bags....

Katyjay has a new Pearl Quantz 665 flute, and I have a Nagahara headjoint. wub.gif

Typically, despite blind testing, the most expensive sounded the best. And, unfortunately, they'd just got a new batch in, from Europe, and the £-euro exchange rate isn't brilliant at the moment. sad.gif

But - it's wonderful. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Sounds as though you had a wonderful day trying flutes & headjoints smile.gif . Hope they're coming with you to N.Ireland in the summer! Did you try the headjoint on both your Powell & Muramatsu, andante? Does it match 1 better than the other do you think?

Sorry! We thought you might be teaching. Maybe next time, as there will undoubtably be a next time. wink.gif

Yes, it will be coming to N.I. biggrin.gif

It's for the Muramatsu - it's almost impossible to get headjoints that fit the Powell. I'm almost certainly going to be selling the Powell - the headjoint is too free-blowing for me now, and I did a blind test before my Rotherhithe recital with a few fellow-Forumites which resulted in my playing the Muramatsu for the recital. The Powell is rapidly becoming a rather expensive white elephant (or silver and gold elephant, I suppose tongue.gif).

I was only going to try out, but the results were fairly spectacular, and I need time to get used to the headjoint before the recital katyjay and I (not forgetting carol*piano) are doing in June.

LOL it is always a mistake to JUST look, with money in your pocket. That was the very expensive mistake I made. But I dont regret it for one moment. happy playing Im so jealous of the Nagahara

I often say 'I'm just looking' in instrument shops. Invariably though, I come out of instrument shops with something...

When it comes to buying stuff, I often only think about it, but that alone forces me to open my purse and part with some cash. With the money I must have spent in Howarth (and on their oboes), I could be a shareholder laugh.gif laugh.gif I wouldn't even dare attempt to add up how much I've spent in total on instruments (of one variety or another), music, accessories etc.

Happy fluting andante and katyjay!
