Everybody who has sent in an application form should now have received an Acknowledgement - if you haven't had one, can you please let me know as you need to bring the Acknowledgement with you to the college in order to gain entry.

Thank you smile.gif

Can I take it that everybody who is coming to the concert is happy for me to pass their email address on to another member who is organising an ensemble? If anyone isn't happy about this, please contact me and I'll sort something else out smile.gif

That's fine. smile.gif

If anyone wants swing band parts in advance in the very near future, can you let me know by close of play today? My computer is going away to be fixed on Thursday morning, and it's likely I'll be without 'net access for a little while from then.

Thanks! wave.gif

I'm finalising most of the concert organisation over this coming weekend so if you haven't already let me know what you're playing, could you let me know in the next day or two please.

I'll be pairing accompanists up with players over the weekend too, so if you haven't already got an accompanist and you've asked for one on your form, I'll put you in touch with somebody.

If anybody's got any queries, feel free to email me smile.gif

We don't need an accompanist for the choir item now Skylark, only the Kazoo Orchestra!

May I invite all of the new and old Forumites to join in both the Choir and the Kazoo Band? You don't have to be a singer for either; just ready to have a try and to have fun. If you don't have a kazoo please bring a comb and I will supply reeds in the form of finest San Izal loo roll. They make the best kazoo reeds in the world. At the moment the percussion section looks rather larger than the kazoo section! For the performance to be well balanced we will need a few more pitched melody instruments. biggrin.gif This is a new venture for the Leeds College of Music and it has to be a success.

Folks - sbhoa is one of the very kind pianists who has offered to accompany at the concert. One of the reasons I need to know by the weekend what everybody is playing and whether you need an accompanist or not is so that I can sort out who is best to accompany whom - some accompanists (not necessarily sbhoa) have indicated the level that they want to accompany, and obviously the accompanists need to have the music well in advance.

Over the weekend I'm planning to send out emails to everyone to confirm what will appear on the progamme - ie who is playing what in which slot and with which accompanist.

At the moment it looks as if several people are performing a 3 minute arrangement of John Cage's 4'33 rolleyes.gif

I'm going to be doing the timetabling over the weekend - can I ask if anyone has a problem arriving between 9.00-9.30am for a rehearsal of a large ensemble at 9.45am? Can you let me know please if you can't arrive by 9.30am, thanks smile.gif

Who would like to be collected from Headingley Station and what time?

And what time does anyone need to be back at Headingley Station? Anybody before, say, 6.30pm?

Is Headingley Station OK for all you train travellers?

Is everyone sorted travel-wise??? unsure.gif

*goes to check train times*

Barry and I could get to Headingley for 9.36 if absolutely necessary.
Trains are hourly.
Returning We have trains around quarter to 6 and quarter to 7 then nine minutes past the hour after that so it's not too bad.
Are there meal plans? We can decide later about that.

If it's a choice of 9.36 or 10.36, 9.36 would be better. On second thoughts, 9.36 would be essential! biggrin.gif

I'm thinking the same place as last year for the meal if anyone's up for it party1.gif

Sorry about the early morning folks, but it's all in a good cause biggrin.gif

Although it says on the concert web site that the college will be open from 9.45am for rehearsals, that was before I knew how many people were coming and having got all the applications in, I think it would be a good idea to start earlier. I'm going to see if we can get access from 9am so that people can get on with practising solo/duets/trios, and then start the rehearsals of the large ensembles from 10am, probably with the Swing Band.

It's a bit misleading because the people who have posted are those who are coming by train from a fair distance. The other side of the coin is that there are 15 people who either live locally or have arrived from afar the day before. Other people who are driving and therefore not restricted to train schedules may also be arriving earlier. I think there will be plenty of people around at about 9 o'clock smile.gif

Last year quite a number of people arrived before the official opening time, so if the official opening time this year is 9am, I wouldn't be surprised to see people there even earlier biggrin.gif

I've got to check it with the college first though, that somebody can be there to open up for 9am, although I'd be surprised if it was a problem smile.gif

I think the posts from people saying they're arriving later are because of the post I'd made earlier (copied below) which asked if anyone had a problem arriving between 9-9.30am. So anyone who hasn't posted otherwise is presumably OK for an earlier start unsure.gif

However, since Barry can't start at this time, and Barry and Sbhoa between them are in all the large ensembles, we won't be starting a large ensemble rehearsal until 10am. Up to that time though, it would be a good idea for people to arrive earlier and rehearse smaller groups. The morning passes VERY quickly, and although you yourself (speaking generally now) may be free, your partner(s) may be rehearsing with some other group and not available at the time when you are. I can't recommend too strongly that people start rehearsing as early as possible!

I'll confirm the timetable when I've checked with the college about the opening time smile.gif

clarinet.gif If anyone owes me an email, it would be much appreciated if you could get back to me by early tomorrow morning if at all possible - I'm trying to tie up all loose ends by tomorrow as I've got a lot on next week once the Bank Holiday is over.

Thank you!
