Thanks Skylark for the fun weekend and all of the great organisation. It was lovely to meet old friends again and the new ones too. Glad that you liked Addy and Liddy!!!!!!!!!!!! It is as well that someone does. biggrin.gif Thanks for being such good sports with the choir and the kazoo orchestra too. I thought that Carl's duck playing and Sboa's solo in the choir added greatly to the overall effects. biggrin.gif The recorder group item went well also, and how good to see some more recorder blowers coming out of hiding.
I enjoyed the meal afterwards. You were all very good company. We should go there again if they'll let us in next time. blush.gif
Babybird2
Maybe next time I should figure out how to play my sopranino recorder tongue.gif I'm glad I remembered to change to descant on my application form. I had written treble by mistake and I can't play it (and I can't play the bottom note because my hands are too small....)

This seems the best place to post this as most of the Leeds Forumites will be reading it and looking for pictures. I left my mobile phone in the sudio after the Leeds concert. sad.gif It is an aged Nokia silver one that says "Bog off, this one's mine! as its welcome message. biggrin.gif If anyone found it please could they return it to me or to Skylark. I have lots of numbers in it that I don't want to lose. Thank you.

I expect you've already tried this, but if there's anyone there at the college have you tried ringing your phone to see if they can hear it?

Hope it turns up.

The college is only open in the afternoons and evenings but I've sent them an email asking them to look for it and to let me know. Hopefully it will be there ....

That's who they said it belonged to, perhaps they shoule be PI's in their spare time laugh.gif

Not that I know of, they weren't wearing anything, I suppose it could have been stored in one of the bags. I'll ask them about it.

Unfortunately I switched it off before the Add/Lidd thing. It is possible that I even folded it inside of the grand piano on the stage as I was the one who closed that up at the end of the day.

Great pictures - both sets! Today's lesson, try to LOOK as if I'm enjoying playing - 'cos I really was. Then again, with Liddy's umbrella and Addy's welsh dragon within reach, maybe I was a little wary. Thanks again to all the new friends I made, can't wait for the next concert.

It was great to meet you and Mrs Oldnotes too, and I'm glad you enjoyed it biggrin.gif

The next concert I'm organising in Leeds will be on Saturday 3 January 2009, same venue - Yorkshire College of Music & Drama. It's early days yet, but I'm envisaging that it will be smaller than the summer concert, and this will enable soloists to play slightly longer slots, or two shorter ones. I'm planning for there to be some large ensembles, but not as many as in the summer concert. One of the already confirmed ensemble directors is one of the teachers at the college, who's heard me talk about forum events and seems keen to get involved biggrin.gif

The January concert will be held under the banner of "Players for Pleasure", which is inspired by the motto of the Yorkshire College of Music & Drama - "for the love of learning and pleasure of playing". Players for Pleasure is an "umbrella" title to describe what is a fairly loose group of learner musicians, mainly but not solely based in Yorkshire, who are looking for opportunities to play at events like concerts, stately homes, retirement homes, bandstands, busking etc.

The first Players for Pleasure event, however, is not in Yorkshire but in Somerset - I've arranged for a group of us to play at a stately home there. We can play all day if we want, and it will be a good opportunity for advanced players to perform longer pieces. Beginners are also welcome, and teachers are welcome to offer the performing opportunity to their students. It will take place in the autumn of this year, on a date to suit the majority. I'm not going to promote it much on this forum as it's not a forum event, but if anyone would like more details, please feel free to contact me smile.gif
