Thank you so much for your very welcoming posts. smile.gif [feels warm and fuzzy inside]

Have spoken to hubby about it, and he's saying yes why not, go for it!

So why not?

OK, please count me in. smile.gif

And I would really like an accompanist too, I haven't mastered the art of playing the piano whilst singing, in fact I haven't mastered the art of playing the piano (...... or singing either!) laugh.gif

Amber, I am happy to accompany you if you want (and if that's allowed as I've already applied for a solo slot...) smile.gif

skylark, as you know this is my first time at a forum concert, so could you clarify how many "performances" per person? It seems to me reading the threads that people generally get to play more than once (solo plus ensembles etc) Thanks!

That's great! Thank you Panthera for your kind offer. Yes please! smile.gif Could you let me know what sort of standard of pianist you are, as it will dictate which song(s) to choose. I'm currently working on a range of songs with varying degrees of difficulty in the accompaniment, so I'd like to choose something which you would enjoy and be comfortable with playing.

Barri, just a thought, but would you like to sing a duet with me? smile.gif

Right, I'll print off the form and get it off to you with payment etc.

I can't believe I'm doing this! biggrin.gif

Some people only want to play a solo, others want to play in ensembles and not a solo. There's no hard-and-fast rule, but I'll try to make sure that everybody has the opportunity to play in at least one duet/trio/small ensemble as well as solo and large ensembles, which is why it's important for people to get their forms in as soon as possible. Until I get forms in, I can't put people who aren't already in a duet/trio/small ensemble in touch with potential playmates so please everybody, do try to get your forms off this week and then if it's possible to find some more playing opportunities for somebody who isn't currently in a small group, I know who is available as potential partners - this is particularly important for newcomers who are unsure how to go about getting into ensembles and maybe don't have the contacts that seasoned concert-goers have got, but I'm sure I can speak for experienced concert-goers when I say they will be happy to partner up with any newcomers smile.gif

Hi all, I'm new on this forum but, living in Yorkshire and having looked at most of the posts, last years event, etc., I think I would like to take part in the concert. I'm arguably G4/5 on piano and, apart from a solo slot, would be really interested in a duet with another instrument - Cello, Violin, w.h.y., or a trio/quartet. aswell. I do run a music group and regularly enjoy playing duets and trios with a tenor, an oboeist and a recorder player. Any offers?, being new to the event I'm looking for some help/advice/reassurance here. I have the details and application form printed ready to send. Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the forums, and you'll be very welcome at the concert as well. So I don't keel over in exhaustion at Leeds (and especially after taking Amber's kind offer to sing with her) I've decided not to do a solo after all skylark...

I often spend ages in there too, and usually come out with about 15 music books for less than £10! The only problem is that I tend to take them to church and put them on the shelf and not use them... ph34r.gif

Many people haven't advised me what they're playing at this stage, and I thought I'd better mention that although it's not a problem for me as long as I know before I do the programme, if anyone leaves it to the last minute to decide and someone else has already chosen the same piece.... :eeek: !
