Please does anyone know where I can get hold of a copy of the previous ABRSM bowed strings syllabus?

I have one here with me at the moment if you have any questions...

I've now had a quick check through and actually the cello pieces didn't change. Those in the 2005-07 syllabus are exactly the same as in the current 2008 & 2009 syllabus.

Thank you for your responses. I'm looking for the cello pieces for Grades 4, 5 and 6 prior to the current ones, so I guess it would be before 2005. I'm also interested in whether any part of the Romberg cello sonata has been used in the past.

Sorry. I don't have one going back that far.

I'm a hoarder by nature, but ironically I binned (to recycling) a whole load of the old syllabuses a few months ago - I'd got copies dating back to the 1980s from when I was doing my violin grade exams!! Some twenty years on, I finally managed to convince myself that I'd never need to look at them ever again.... rolleyes.gif

I've retrieved my 2003 & 2004 syllabus but I can't see any sign of the Romberg Sonata. Do you have any other queries?

Thank you for looking for the Romberg sonata. I'm hoping to get hold of the list of pieces for cello grades 4,5 and 6 to give me additional pieces to play....some easier and some more challenging.

I have copies of the syllabus for 1999 until 2004 if that is helpful. The cello pieces in the syllabus remained the same from 2001 to 2004

The second movt of the the Romberg E minor sonata was set for grade 5 in 1999-2000 (list B).

If you have any further queries, please ask.

Oh my!! I presume that's the Rondo which I'm attempting at the moment and its so hard. The first movt was really quite manageable. Many thanks for looking.

Pleased to help. The rondo is the third movement, not the second and is much harder than either of the two preceeding movements. It is certainly more grade 6 standard, if not nearer grade 7, so don't be too discouraged if you are finding it quite tough going! Good luck with it.
