I believe there was an advice on the general diplomas that you should not include two different works by the same composer, so in your case the two Bachs might not go down so well. Otherwise the programme looks good!

The Hindemith is a fun selection, yes definitely do that one. Have you also considered Gordon Jacob's Trombone Sonata. Its technically not very hard which allows more room for creative input.

Hi ethbone, my specialist field is jazz and the ABRSM don't offer a jazz trombone diploma which is why i did my trombone diploma with London College of Music. However i did consider the DipABRSM performance exam and worked through some of the repertoire until the LCM Jazz Diploma was brought to my attention. You probably gathered that from my signature! Looking at a guitar diploma next

Hi all. I'm interested in this discussion as I am entered for a DipABRSM on trombone this November.
My repertoire list took a while to settle on and even recently I was having second thoughts ... about trying to make it more 'coherent' or something like that. I mean, I considered doing the Cavatine by Saint Saens - but I figured that is too much like the Guilmant; at least it was written for the same reason (the Paris Conservatoire trombone competitions). I also had considered the Larsson Concertino, but decided I already had a concerto type piece (I know, what about the Guilmant?!) and I preferred to try something else out as I'd already played Larsson for grade 8. The Jacob seems nice, and as someone earlier pointed is technically less demanding than the Hindemith and so could allow more room for interpretation.
Anyway, let me know your thoughts:
J.S. Bach Suite No 1.
Prelude
Bouree I
Bouree II
Rimsky-Korsokav
Trombone Concerto
Guilmant
Morceau Symphonique ('Concertpiece')
Jacob
Trombone Sonata
Look forward to comments and discussion! I'm teaching in India and feel just a bit isolated from the music world!
