I've come across this in German - it appears to be a note name, but which one? Is anyone familiar with the German system for naming notes?
Thanks
Rosemary

H is B natural, and H-moll is the key of B minor. B in German notation refers to B flat.

Thanks andante! Do you know how they refer to other flats/sharps?

Have a look at the Dolmetsch website. It's explained in the second section down.

I taught a German exchange student last year - a very enlightening experience. biggrin.gif

I thought it was a fudge invented by Germans so that they could play B-A-C-H on notes!

Well that is how you can play the notes B-A-C-H, but surely it would have been a fugue, not a fudge! tongue.gif
