Hey all
I have performance exams in college coming up, and I have to play 3 grade 6 pieces. I have two already from the abrsm book, the B and C list only I don't like any from the A list. Can anyone recommend any nice smooth romantic or 20th century pieces that I could play? I particularly like pieces where I can imagine something too. LOL if that makes any sense.

Thanks

blush.gif My favourite piece - Giddy Girl by Ibert - just fits the bill!!! blush.gif

There are others, such as Mendelsshon's Songs without words (romantic piece) or Debussy's Le Petite Negre (20th century)... Prokofiev and Shostakovich, Bartok and Khachaturian... they all have written pieces of Grade 6 level...

Best of luck, whatever you choose.

Maybe you could have a look at Spectrum Vol 3. They're not to everyone's taste; but there's a wide selection, and you won't be short of things to imagine ( Lavender fields; Shooting Stars; Yellow bean leaves..) . Some are definitely more appealing (and playable) than others, though.
Good luck!
