What is a Ciacona and how do I go aboot writing one?

The name "chaconne" may be more familiar to you. Ciacona is the Italian name. It is an easy form to use as it usually consists of a set of variations on a ground bass line but can also be a set of variations based upon a harmonic progression too. The best known one is perhaps the Pachelbel canon.
