so im taking grade 8 piano on the 22nd/23rd of may smile.gif

in my programme of pieces, I have 4 page turns; 2 in group A, and 1 each in group B and C. the one in group C i can manage easily.

But, for the ones in group A, I have to stop playing for a second or so. and for the one in group B, I have to stop for a few seconds because it's really awkward. I know it says in the guidelines that page turning problems are acceptable, but does this include significant pauses while turning?

thanks smile.gif

You could always photocopy the pages and stick them together with sellotape. I'm planning to do this for my Grade 6 Piano too.

Good Luck for your exam.

I have always just photocopied a page and stuck it on the edge of the page, and the examiner has never had a problem with this! smile.gif
What pieces are you doing? I'm doing grade 8 in November, and i'm doing:
A5: Handel prelude and gigue (one annoying page turn, which i will photocopy)
B7: Mozart piano sonata in C K.309 (fairly manageable page turns, may photocopy a few pages)
C13: Grieg Nocturne (easy page turn)

Good luck with your exam! smile.gif

Just added the following to a similar thread in Viva Woodwind... biggrin.gif

"Just read this on page 20 of These Music Exams from the main ABRSM website...
"Examiners will not help with page-turning, but pauses or difficulties with page-turning will not affect the marks. However, if there are a number of really awkward turns to negotiate which present no easy solution,
candidates taking Grade 7 or 8, particularly on such instruments as double bass, guitar, harp and percussion, may bring a page-turner to assist, provided that permission has been obtained at the time of entry. Organists may bring a page-turner at any grade (permission not required). Accompanists are expected to turn their own pages. However, an accompanist may bring a page-turner without asking
permission when playing for a Grade 8 candidate."

Unsure if that counts for flute which could end up on the floor if only held with one hand if unbalanced/shakey hands as in exam."

Hope this helps...
