For those walking from the station the straightest way is to walk down from the station, stay on the road that goes past the bus station and the Bingo.
At the end of that go left. There is a stone archway which is the site of the old town hall.... go up the street to the right of that (it IS up) then turn right.
The 2nd traffic lights are at the turn into Huddersfield Road (signposted for Millbrook). The Church is on the right and stands on a hill.

I should arrive at Stalybridge at about 9.45...

Not sure if anyone is around that soon but if you need a lift let me know and I'll get something sorted.

Aiming to arrive Stalybridge between 9:30 and 10 (ISH!!!), so may well be coming past the station at around the time you are walking. Will have room in the car to transport bags, instruments etc, but not people, as have removed the rear seats in order to transport a scooter back from Staffs on Sun (don't ask, it's turning into a horrendously complicated weekend!!). Will be bringing 2 stands with me.

[Just to clarify, the rear seats are removable, one of the reasons for buying this model was that we could fit a pedal harp in the back]

However, as all who know me know to their cost, Snowdonia is a little out of kilter with world time zones, and I'm not known as "Last Minute Lynne" for nothing!!!

Advance warning - I'm playing absolutely rubbish at the moment, tone has completely gone and embouchure is quickly following it!

Just about to set off! It's raining hard here at the moment - hoping for better things of Stalybridge...

See you all soon!

I'm hoping to be there about 12.00 ish (perhaps as late as 1, comfortably in time for the concert but possibly missing any ensemble rehearsal, sorry): Was hoping to be there earlier but something's come up this morning. See you later.

On behalf of Mrs Pushpull and myself could I say well done to you all and a special big thanks to sbhoa. Glad we came along. You have thrown down a gauntlet which I now have to pick up (feels slight nausea).

Oh and the Curry Goat was good too.

I was there and I don't understand this! Obviously I missed something!

As you might expect, it really was a fab concert! Everyone played really well and it was a wonderful atmosphere. Sorry that a few people had to miss out at the last minute - I really hope we will get a chance to play the Grand Finale on another occasion...

Special thanks to all the accompanists - especially to oldnotes who helped to get me through my piece!

Can't wait for the next one!

I hope that you all had a really good day. I was very tempted to pop across to say hello but I have been far too busy with one thing and another and another and another.........

I am looking forward to seeing lots of pics. smile.gif

It was another lovely North West adult learners' concert, well done to sbhoa for all the effort in organising such a well run and relaxed event. smile.gif

A few other mentions : katyjay of course for getting me up to a performance standard again, and for throwing together a very entertaining 'emergency finale' (get well soon hillyb...) all the backroom people doing the catering and suchlike, and rachi, who quite happily organised a little clarinet ensemble jamming session. Rachi, at the risk of embarrassing her, has clearly got some wonderful results from her pupils, proving it's quite possible to get a beautiful sound from a clari from the word 'go' . If you're a clarinettist in the South/Central/East Manchester-y sort of area, do think about maybe having a lesson or two with rachi, you won't regret it!

Well done to all the performers smile.gif , and thank you for the lovely comments in my comment envelope. biggrin.gif

And I do believe sbhoa is planning to do this all again this time next year, and that deserves a yay.gif !

----------

I think it's worth briefly mentioning that notmusimum and I are doing an orchestral playday in Salford on Saturday 15th November, and anyone who came to this event is most welcome to come and have a play, all levels of ability will be catered for. More details will follow very soon smile.gif

Fantastic event again, and superbly organised, (thanks sbhoa). And may a say a big thankyou to you all for welcoming me back so nicely to a forum event after my absence over the last year. Fortunately I had a driver yesterday, as driving any distance at once is still a challenge for me (I can do it if I have a lot of rests en route, but it takes forever to get anywhere!!!), but hoping for this to be sorted soon (once the meds kick in!)

Great to see so many familiar faces, and a lot of new ones too, and put faces to forum names too.

Thanks also to everyone for all your kind comments blush.gif ...I'm checking out K3 even now!!! laugh.gif

Back after my first Stalybridge. Well done to sbhoa for organising a great event and for finding a venue with a really nice piano. biggrin.gif Lots of great performances to listen to as always, and I was really impressed with the standard of rachi's pupils too. biggrin.gif

Many thanks to my valiant accompanist, who does have a Forums name but I can't remember what it is. ohmy.gif blush.gif

Tell me about it!!

Things have been totally mad here too.

Glad you all had a fab time, maybe next year we might get to be part of the audience.

Sorry to hear you've had a bad back Sbhoa hope it's better soon.

I'm back too, after a very enjoyable weekend.

Well done to Sbhoa for another excellent event - and a lovely new venue.

Thanks to Andante for accompanying my violin solo, to Andante and Willobie for the piano trio - especially for coping when I lost my music, and to Stuart for playing Summertime and letting me sing along.

If anyone has found the Violin part of "Tunes For My Piano Trio book 1" please could they let me know.....

Cheers

To the person responsible for finding the lovely thank you card, well done.
That appears to have been a masterpiece of forward planning... Considering framing it. biggrin.gif

Sbhoa,
Thanks for organising another great day - thought the piano was lovely! clap.gif

Thankyou to everyone for all your nice comments, and thanks to Onion and Andante in C for having me as their accompanist - it was great fun, and good experience to do something I don't normally get a chance to do.

Only just got round to turning the computer on, (thanks to German Grand Prix, Open Golf Tourny, picking strawberries, sleeping, etc.), but I would like to heartily endorse all the positive comments. The Steinway piano was really good. The organisation, including the food and drink, was first class, thanks Sbhoa. I met and enjoyed talking with some new friends and basked in the really nice comments in my envelope on the train (delayed) coming home. I'm looking forward to the next time we can meet up again, keep making music everyone.

And one more thank you to Sbhoa for organizing such a fab day! REally did enjoy it and it was so nice to see the same crew again, and to see some new faces too! Dinner was really nice, although I didn't opt for the curried goat.

Journey back was eventful - toilets on the train were out of order so it stopped for 15 mins at every station along the way!! Ended up getting home about 3 h late!

Hello,

A special "Thank you" from me for the lovely Get Well card received this morning! It was a lovely surprise! I'm glad the day went well for you all, and I was sorry not to be there.

Hope to see you all soon though.

Thank you wub.gif

Apologies for such a belated post- I've been away!
It was a fantastic day with lots of very enjoyable performances - congratulations to everyone who played. smile.gif

Many thanks to Sbhoa for introducing me to the forum concerts and for doing such a wonderful job of organising it! I've had very positive feedback off all my students and I know that they are all hoping to play in the next concert. biggrin.gif biggrin.gif

Barry-clari, thank you for your very kind comments blush.gif Thanks also for your input in to the clarinet 'jamming session'. It was great to have such a healthy representation of clari players - something I hope to boost even further for next year! clarinet.gif clarinet.gif

I'm hoping to make it along to the Salford Play Day along with some of my students and I'm very much looking forward to next year's Stalybridge event!!
