I still can't quite understand how the misunderstanding arose as looking at the message you sent me a few weeks ago, it seems quite clear that you said I could come and send the application form after Leeds was over...

Anyway congratulations sbhoa - considering last year you were thinking you might have to stop holding the concert because so few people were applying, you've done really well to turn it around and fill it up 7 weeks in advance of the event smile.gif Shall I stop promoting it over my side of the Pennines now and get it taken off the college web site?

Yes please.
And thank you for arranging to put it on there.
sbhoa
Not too long to go now.

Will those who still have to choose their piece please note that you have only 2 weeks to let me know..... YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE! tongue.gif

I've made a booking for the meal afterwards and would like to have an idea of numbers. This year they would like to know what we want to eat in advance (not unusual for larger bookings) and I'll get menus nearer the time. For now please let me know BY PM PLEASE (it can get lost if posted on the thread) if you think you will stay.
After eating we will once again retire to the station buffet bar for those who wish to.

I think that most people are sorted out with their accompanists.... if anyone has a problem with that please let me know sooner rather than later.

sbhoa
I've sent messages today to remind those who still have to let me know what they are playing.

Just want to remind you to let me know if you plan to stay for the meal please.

For those not on public transport please bring music stands (they can be rather bulky on trains and buses!)

We have a very full programme but there is likely to be time for informal jamming during the morning so feel free to bring along duets and suchlike. If you are unsure about who to ask to play do ask on the day.
If you want to know about instruments and approximate levels of those attending in advance then PM or email me and I'll let you know.

Really looking forward to it! Thanks for all your hard work organising this, Sbhoa

If anyone is around and wondering what to do with themselves on the Sunday my orchestra is doing a concert at The Witchwood in Ashton starting at 2.30. biggrin.gif
We'll be playing a programme of mostly film music.

It is but at fairly short notice it was somewhere we could get a room at the right price.
I think Our conductor goes in there.

I'll be singing in the main bit of the concert, but I'll bring a few bits 'n' pieces of wind emsemble music, along with a clarinet and whatever hillyb wants me to play for the finale, and I'll be up for a jam with anyone who wants to play. smile.gif

Anyone interested in coming to Saltaire, to the Early Music Shop, on the Friday morning beforehand?

Even allowing for the concert being full, I notice we've passed the closing date. Less than a month to go. Have I memorised all the words for my song? Nowhere near... sad.gif

Thanks for the PM hillyb. Will now also have the alto sax with me, if people wish to 'have a jam' beforehand. smile.gif

And I have the composer's opinion on part of my piece I was unsure about. smile.gif

I have just sent a PM to sbhoa. Due to not being able to sing or play piano at the moment, I have decided to withdraw from performing at Stalybridge this year. I hope someone else can take my place if it's not too late.

Apart from that, I don't know how I would travel, things being as they are.

sad.gif sad.gif

I hope you all have a successful day. smile.gif

Programme? I'm meant to do a programme?? Still on my things to do list.

How about giving everyone a raffle ticket and deciding the order by lot as we go.......? ohmy.gif

You'll have to wait until the day (though they might be lying around somewhere on the Friday if you are lucky).
One reason is that I don't edit the site myself and it can sometimes be a little while before my brother in law is able to do it for me.
I'm planning on getting him to give me a crash course some time so that I can to my own alterations.

At the moment I'm battling a sore throat I've had for several days now. And I still can't play my solo piano piece. And I don't know how much of a hash I'm going to make of my accompaniment or my part in the piano trio.

If you are able to bring a stand please do.
This might be a problem for some who are using public transport so anybody who is driving who has a spare stand please can you bring it in case.
We only need a number of stands for the finale but I'd rather have too many available than too few.
Do remember your packed lunches though Tesco and Stalybridge town centre are less than a mile away and there will be snacks and drinks available throughout the day.

Is anyone else arriving by train on the day? Being directionally challenged, it would be nice to find a travelling companion...

If anyone would like a lift from the station please give me an idea of arrival times and I'll try to sort it out.
It's just under a mile from the station but uphill.
I don't have transport of my own as it's the cricket season but there are one or 2 with cars who are happy to help out in this way.

I'll pop a stand in my suitcase, just in case it's needed.

Just a thought..... the concert is actually in the Church so with the weather we've been having the temperature may be a little on the low side. Not a problem we expected in July. I don't attend that church so can't be more helpful, sorry.
