At Stalybridge, we ordered what we wanted for dinner in advance, do we need to do that for NI?
No, we can order when we get there. Apf and I had a lovely lunch there yesterday. smile.gif

Thanks noodle, and good to hear you two had a good lunch there smile.gif

yay.gif an 'ood' lunch. I'm going to see Doctor Who characters! biggrin.gif

My flight's booked smile.gif

Funny though... when I first heard about the concert I had no idea I'd have to book a plane to get to it laugh.gif

Haven't had much time for practise I'm afraid, but the flute is working again, sort of. According to someone ho knows more about flutes than I do, it's "leaking" air. I thought it was just me being out of practise...probably a bit of both really rolleyes.gif

Anyway, looking forward to seeing everyone, and please have mercy on me! My solo isn't at the standard I'd have liked it to be wacko.gif

There's going to be quite a few flautists there who may well be able to tell you what's up with your flute. smile.gif

See you next week! biggrin.gif
Andy-piano-flute
Have sent directions to mine via PM to katyjay. If there is anyone else coming to the concert who i have omitted to invite to our pre-concert get-together at mine on Thursday evening please let me know.
Ad_lib - wiill happily have a look at your flute on saturday for you. I'm trying to wrap my fingers round some twiddly bars of an accompaniment - could end up under pressure being a " I'll just play 1 hand for this bit" section laugh.gif .
Noodle - for meal on saturday I think it will be me & both girls - do you think the restaurant would be really put out if the gilrls couldn't make it?

Before I pack I was wondering whether to bring both claris.
If anyone wants to try out the Hanson student model clari then please say so today and I'll bring it.
We are bringing the car so it's not a problem to put in.

Did you get your new clari sbhoa? I showed apf our duet pieces last night. I didn't play them for her, we just looked at the music!

Full details will be circulated to everyone later in the week, but rehearsals start at 9.45am on Saturday.

Yes.
Went shopping after my lesson last week. smile.gif

Just a quick hello before bed to say how much I enjoyed myself today at the concert, and it was great to meet some members I hadn't seen before party1.gif

Everyone was fantastic and played/sang beautifully - I was really impressed and my uncle has just phoned to say he really enjoyed the music and you should all be very proud smile.gif

I'm off to sleep as much as possible now - hope to see you all again soon!

like ad_libitum I just wanted to say how great today was. I really enjoyed it and it's great to be able to put some faces to names now!

A big thanks to noodle for all her hard work in organising this event and I think we can all agree it was very successful.

This was the first forum concert that I have been too and I look forward to attending future ones! For anyone that hasn't been to one - GO! smile.gif

Yep, just wanting to add a big wenchy thanks to everyone who contributed to organising yesterday's event, Noodle, Bari-clari, Katyjay and particularly andy-piano-flute for putting up with such a strange accompaniment from me! piano.gif I thought everyone sounded terrific and it was a great way of putting faces to names- to those travelling, thank you for making the effort and helping make it viable! Sorry I kept getting lost : wacko.gif

I took a few pics, I'll pop them on the forum when I'm home. smile.gif

Just a quick message from the welcome centre in a slightly drizzly Belfast to say how much I enjoyed the concert, and my stay in Northern Ireland (so far, I'm here for another couple of days yay.gif).

Thanks must go to noodle for her organisation, to andante, katyjay and sbhoa for their company in the 'forum house' these last few days, and to Andy-piano-flute and her family for their hospitality.

And of course to all the performers, who all played (or in the case of the choir, jazzywench and katyjay, sang as well) really well. Thanks for the accompaniment ad_lib, I enjoyed working with you.

Jazzywench (you have got an amazing voice!), noodle, and ad-lib, I'll PM all three of you when I get back.

I hope we can get another event of some description sorted in NI very soon, maybe a little playday or something before the next (yes noodle the next biggrin.gif ) NI forum concert...

Well done everyone, and thank you! smile.gif
andante_in_c
Well, back home today after a 12-hour journey yesterday (which at least had the benefit of being shorter than the outward leg!).

Thanks to everyone who worked hard to make the event the success it was: noodle for being the prime mover, barry-clari for all his hard work as ever, Andy-piano-flute for her hospitality, and for introducing us to her amazing offspring, katyjay and Misterjay for chauffeuring me around and sbhoa for being sensible. tongue.gif

It was great to meet ad_libitum (thanks for accompanying me), jazzywench and Matthew_o50 for the first time. The flute ensemble worked incredibly hard to pull off a performance of Bohemian Rhapsody after only 45 minutes' rehearsal, so thanks to all of you. I think it's the first time we've had a full flute choir with alto and bass at a Forums event, and it could have been with piccolo too if we'd had one more player there. biggrin.gif

The choir and finale went very well as always, with original arrangements of traditional Irish tunes by katyjay and barry-clari respectively.

Looking forward to seeing the pics and to the next Forums event - can I learn sax before October? laugh.gif wink.gif tongue.gif

Back home about 6 this evening but only just got the computer as there was a problem in a cricket match over the weekend and Mr bhoa is one of the league secretaries. He's been preparing an appeal meeting all evening.

Had a great time, well done Noodle. The Forum house was fun and thanks to APF and her lovely family for their wonderful hospitality.
It was good meeting more forumites and playing with fellow grade 1 challenger Noodle. Had fun being carol*piano's stunt double and apf's flute piece was enjoyable to accompany too.
Currently walking with considerable care due to having had a good time at the Giants Causeway on Sunday.

Berface.no1 would appear to have been a figment of the imagination....... tongue.gif

For some of us, the NI concert was our first experience of a forum event and we really enjoyed it. Some of us have many commitments which means we can't travel to other forum events so we thought maybe we could have a day now and again where local forummers could get together, perform a few pieces, have dinner and a natter! Provisionally we have pencilled in the last Saturday in January and the last Saturday in May followed by a forum playday in August.

pm apf or me for further details!

Will un-local forumites be welcome? biggrin.gif

I'm going to look into the possibility of coming to Northern Ireland in May as well as August. As long as I don't end up with work committments, I don't envisage a problem.

I'll bring a few bits 'n' pieces of music, as well as a clarinet and a flute (can't possibly go to Northern Ireland without a flute, can I? biggrin.gif ), and once I'm 100% certain of attendance (as opposed to the not quite 100% we're at currently), I'll post here. smile.gif
