I presume you mean a two against three rhythm

One Two-and Three

Triplets on One Two Three, Quavers on One and -and

After a while you will just be able to do it without counting

I'm assuming this is on piano?

I always used One cup of tea wink.gif

Practice on your lap.

One - tap boths hands on lap

cup - right hand

of - left hand

tea - right hand

That is right quavers against left triplets

for the other way around just swap the hands smile.gif

Hi smile.gif

I can't offer you any advice, just that I was about to post the exact same topic as you!!
I can do the 'one cup on tea' thing on my lap but keep pausing at the end of tea! Even when I don't, I can't seem to transfer it into actually playing the piece! Any ideas? Should I try 'one cup of tea' on my lap but hands separately?

Hope we can both find a way to sort this out!!

Ps. Is your piece by any chance Debussy's First Arabesque?!

try playing it with only two notes on the piano e.g. octave c's. ignore the actual music then think ONE cup of tea ONE this accents the beat of the bar and helps to keep the pulse. I used it on my grade 7 jazz piece: willie wagglesticks walkabout

Mostly I make sure that each hand is playing in time then go for it.

i use nice cup of tea slowly to get the notes, but them to go up to speed, i do one hand up to speed, then the other, alternating a few times and then (in the words of my teacher) put them together when they're not looking. alternatively start the quavers in one hand and get them really steady, then add in the other hand
