fluteandbassoon
Hi.

I'm in SCB and i play my bassoon.

Does anyone else play in an orchestra??

Ceri
hornplayer
whats SCB?

im in symphony orchestras, chamber/string orchestra with horns in (for handel's fireworks), baroque ensemble, senior brass horn ensemble, helping out and coaching the horns in a junior brass ensemble, senior choir school orchestra, jazz band (on piano), accompanying choir and doing hymns (organ).

ive also got the adanced level exam by ABRSM with a wind quintet, pass A, and ive done horn quartets, brass quintet, wind band, wind orchestra, pit orchestra for opera and musicals, wind ensemble thing for mozart wind serenade.

so that just leaves a string quartet really...............shame i dont play viola, cos then i'll have done most of the major groupings.

I'm in the school senior choir (soprano and accompanist)... and sometimes accompany the junior choir
music centre youth orchestra and string orchestra (both violin)
3 string quartets (all violin)
1 electric string quartet
1 string sextet (violin)
1 string octet (violin)
local amateur string orchestra (violin)
national youth choir (soprano)
english school's orchestra (violin)
rock band (keyboards/bass guitar)
i'm also a regular attendee at music camp, where i play violin and french horn (not at the same time).

Compared to some of you this doesn't seem like a lot but it does take up a lot of my time:
My school string group (the only viola player sad.gif )
The intermediate orchestra at my music centre (viola)
My music centre's choir (alto)

I also play viola in the junior orchestra at my music centre at their concerts to help them out. My friends have also asked me to play piano in their GCSE compositions (they don't realise how bad I am at piano!!! Oh well, most of their piano parts are just chords).

And, Rainbow, it doesn't matter how badly or well you play on a GCSE composition recording because the actual standard of performing isn't marked for that section! It does, however, have to bear at least some resemblance to the markings on the score...! laugh.gif
Rainbow
Thanks Cecilia! It's not my composition but I would like my friends to get a good grade. I don't think all of them are writing a score though so that might not be a problem.

at school: orchestra, Jaz band, Chamber choir, Senior choir, Samba band, Stage band and folk group. We had a glockenspiel quartet for a few weeks, but that was just a joke!! laugh.gif Out of school: Carlisle Youth Band and Border cocnert band, which are both on the same night plus samba after school, so we don't go home until 10 each thursday! It's fun though! biggrin.gif
