I'm down for the Rotherhithe recital on 14 June, and have had a range of difficulties sorting an accompanist.
My programme is fairly simple, with the theme of songs from musicals and film. It's half an hour long.
If you might be able to help as an accompanist, I'd be incredibly grateful.
Kind regards
Jane

Hi Jane the pianist deborah and I used last Saturday is excellent, but quite expensive at £150. That was for travelling and a rehearsal at his house and a run through on the day. Not sure if he would be available if you are interested but if you want to know more let me know

How about James who accompanied us at Woodford Green?

Could you use Jo's accompanist? If the music is fairly simple you would probably manage with a few chats over the phone and a run-through on the day.

One more thought; perhaps there is a music college student in London who would do it for the experience. You could try phoning around the colleges to ask.

This is a big part of the problem for me really. I'm a newly single mother on very limited income, and the people who'd originally agreed to do the recital for me had agreed to do it for free. I can't afford hefty pianist fees, so am starting to really panic! The few people I've found locally through musicteachers who've said they could help want a lot of money for it.

Perhaps there would be other student forumites out there who could ask their teachers?

Please help meerkat if you can, everybody - it must be a very stressful situation to be in and meerkat doesn't often ask for help or support so she must really need it

Meerkat..I have spoken with my tutor. He can't promise anything, but I can PM you with his number. He said if he can't help, he may know someone who can.
*His first response was for me to do it...yeah right!*

Looks like barry-clari's 'plan B' has worked.

Is Jod's accompanist unable to help? That would seem to be the easiest solution. Or maybe she would play for you?

Probably not much help, but if you contribute to a lowcost air ticket from Nantes to London, I'll happily play for you as long as the music isn't much above Grade 8 standard (it's been a while and sightreading... urgh).
There are probably easier offers logistically, but I'll do it if no one more suitable can be found nearer!
