I bought a cornet the other day and its my aim to teach myself it!
=].
i already play violin and oboe and is it quite easy to pick up the notes? As i've heard the first octave is easy to learn..
Also has anyone got any tips on mouthpieces..
Which ones are best for beginners etc..
I'm a complete newbe for brass!!

Borrow a tutor book or something, it should have enough info in it. Or look on the website for some resources.
I thing I am interested to know is that there is a common myth that high brass and double reed instruments don't work out (one has lips rolled out and the other has it completely rolled in). Of course a lot of myths are just myths with no basis what so ever, and I am not trying to put you off learning a brass instrument; just be a bit aware that if the oboe embouchure is suffering, do stop (assuming you value your oboe more than the cornet)
