hi
How did people think it went yesterday?
Did anyone else notice some of the answers on the back, I didn't but my friends told me after...so no good for me, but for them, very good lol.
This is just a place to talk about it really.
It seemed to be mainly salsa based, amongst other stuff but i could be very wrong
in question one, what was the 3rd extract, can anyone remember, it's really annoying me.

Can't believe it's all over...
but, on the plus, i got full marks on my coursework...apparently it's a school first...I find that hard to believe...

anyway, this is just to chat about it really. and in august we can post results too biggrin.gif

I didn't do the OCR exam - I did Edexcel, but thought I'd say congrats on getting full marks in your coursework! smile.gif I'm not allowed my coursework results back mellow.gif

Do you know if they're doing anything about some of the answers being on the back? Because that's not at all fair on those who didn't see because the grade boundaries will change, and then it'll be a false grade for those who did see... wacko.gif

thanks smile.gif it was quite a shock though, and i'm not sure if i'm supposed to know or not, cus my music teachers only told me cus they got quite sentimental at it being a school first... ohmy.gif

I don't know about what will happen with the grades...my parents say maybe it was put there to mislead people, but i don't think they would do that...but then again i didn't expect to be told after the exam that some answers were on the back...so will have to wait and see...

In answer to your question, I fired off an email to OCR yesterday evening:

Dear Sirs,

Can you tell me what is going to be done with the marks gained in
today's exam as a result of some of the answers being printed on the
back of the question paper?

Yours sincerely,

And rather impressively, receieved a reply this morning:

Thank you for your email.

We are aware of the situation with the Music paper and can confirm that
this will be taken into consideration at standardisation.

Kind regards,

oh god, does that means that they might deduct marks on the exam??
or make the boundaries very high??
i mean if they did that might be abit unfair since not everybody knew about the answers on the back!

i dont think it was there to mislead people because i had exactly similar answers.

It was unbelievably inept on behalf of OCR. Papers are set, checked and sample attempted up to two years in advance. Surely somebody must have noticed that the answers were there. I reckon there were 10 marks there.

I hope they don't deduct marks or change boundaries...cus I actually think those answers were amongst that which i got right!- without realising about the answers were printed on the back...it's just not going to be fair whichever way they do it...if they change the boundaries, people who didn't know will suffer, and if they don't, as singerpianist said earlier, it would be a false grade for those that did look as they were effectively able/encouraged to cheat...

I found the exam OK, I did notice the acknowledgements on the back, but only towards the end of the exam. Was good to know that I got the two "suggest a composer" questions correct without looking biggrin.gif Well the Philip Glass one was more luck really, he was the one minimalist composer that I'd remebered rolleyes.gif

I think OCR will have to be careful with what they do about the situation, given that obviously not all students noticed the mistake (I was the only one in my class), don't know quite how they'll manage it...

I didn't notice the acknowledgments, do you think i'd still get a mark for Steve Reich instead of Philip Glass?, cus it was just a minimalist composer, which he is, granted he wasn't the actual composer, but they shouldn't mark it wrong, should they?
Maybe they'll mark the paper, as though those questions were not in the paper- say out of 90 or whatever.
But then that means I'll have lost the marks that I have relied on in the mocks to make that difference between a B or A, or A and A* etc...
I thought this would be one of the nicest exams I had to do, now it's become a nightmare. sad.gif
