It's very early days yet, and we don't need to go into any major details at the current time, but this is a thread for people to talk about a possible forum event in North East Scotland in summer 2009, largely organised by Malone and Miss Ross with guidance from yours truly.

Any major news stories will appear here as they break. smile.gif

Update :

Malone is liasing with the two possible venues as we speak. The choice of venue will be published in due course.

Miss Ross has offered to help out, and they will, I'm sure, between them organise a wonderful event. smile.gif

The date : will be one of August 8th or 15th 2009, the confirmed date will be put here as soon as the three of us have picked it.

It may seem a long time away.

But.

It's likely that applications will open in about April 2009.

That's less than a year away.

And it'll fly by.

Scotland has been crying out for an event like this for ages so well done Malone and Miss Ross. I and a few others have been trying but finding a venue and a date was a real stumbling block.

I would help with this event if I can, with the musical side or generally. Will of course be there if possible.

As soon as the date is sorted, it'll go online, so you can put a massive great red circle round it biggrin.gif

If you can make it, I'm sure your services will be appreciated. smile.gif

Great! Any idea where (not specifics - within a hundred mile radius)?

fantastic,
If I can help please get in touch. West coast, and so quite a long way, at least 5 hours drive but very do-able. I'm happy to accompany fairly simple stuff, if given enough warning.
Please PM me, and I'll send you my contact details

So what does one DO???

How does one apply?

Could I get involved in an ensemble? (Too nervous for solo.)

I have never "done" a forum event before - please advise.

For events that are currently signing up there will be a link to the event website which will have the details on cost, venue and where to send your application.
They will also list any planned large ensembles which are open to anyone who wants to take part.
Smaller ensembles (duets/trios etc.) are usually arranged between participants who may or may not know each other in 'real life'.
Rehearsals and socialising take place during the morning and the concert in the afternoon.
They are fairly informal concerts and the emphasis is on enjoying making music at all levels.

You'd need to check with the event organiser.
If you were bringing your own kit then the answer is probably.
Don't forget that under 18s have to be accompanied by a responsible adult.
micky-d
I wont be under 18 anyway.

What you mean my own kit??
Could it be mallets?

Who is the organiser?

Which event are you thinking of?
Once applications are open there will be a link on the calendar to the relevant site.
By your own kit I mean whatever percussion you would be playing.
For the Woodford Green events The Light Beat brought his drum kit and offered to play for anyone who would like a percussionist as well as playing in the finale.

If you're thinking of this event, the organisers are Malone and Miss Ross, with a teeny tiny little input from me.

If you're going to bring a kit, or any sort of percussion, I'm sure we can think of a way of accomodating it. smile.gif

Hey,

I'm up for joining in. I sing though, so are there likely to be accompanists? Or choirs?

Edinburgh to Aberdeen isn't too dreadful by train either, and it'll be nice to see some more of Scotland than the central belt.

Yes, there'll definitely be accompanists, and I'm hoping there'll be a choir.

The event is scheduled for this time next year.

Keep your eyes on this thread for more info. smile.gif
