Just a question for all you people who have taken a diploma... how long is it for the results to come out... been nearly a month since I took mine! Not thinking about it too much but would like to have some idea!
Deborah
UK results take about eight weeks; I'm not sure about elsewhere, but it'll probably give an estimate in the exam appointment letter.

The wait's terrible, isn't it? The result from my resit came right at the end of the eighth week, by which time I was away on a week's holiday, so it was about nine weeks after the exam. To make matters worse, during results week, people were posting here to say that they'd passed, whereas I was on a knife edge watching the postman walk up the drive each day with a handful of C5 manilla envelopes which for a few moments each day I thought were letters telling me I'd failed argh.gif

Mine took 8 weeks the first time, and 9 weeks the second time (I retook my recital)

I've found this great way to depress yourself while you are waiting for the results to arrive.

Analyse the pass statistics argh.gif

here is the % pass rate for ABRSM Diploma for the last 6 years

2001 - 61.8%
2002 - 52.09%
2003 - 50.7%
2004 - 51%
2005 - 53.56 %
2006 - 58.3 %

and if you get as far as actually passing .. the % of those who passed who achieved a distinction is

2001 - 15.29%
2002 - 21.74%
2003 - 20.48%
2004 - 16.71%
2005 - 17.43 %
2006 - 13.89%

there now ... doesn't that make you feel better wink.gif I've got about 8 weeks left to wait for my result so I just know that it's the type of encouragement one needs NOT !!!
boredteacher
Please don't analyse the results.... it makes it very depresing.
My results came 2 days after starting this topic and I am overseas also. It was just on 4 weeks. Seems very quick compared to everyone elses experience.
I was also one of the passing 50% which is lucky for me! Please post when you find out the results. Were you teaching or performing?
BerkshireMum
I'm sure you'll be fine, musicman! Analysing statistics doesn't help, as you have no idea why 50% of candidates fail - maybe it's because they go to pieces on the day. But you do know that you felt your diploma exam went well, and I think you would have an inkling if you'd been below standard.

Try to forget about it now until just before the result is due. (I was just about to say "and enjoy the summer" when I realised you will be in the middle of winter, without even Christmas to relieve it - no wonder you're thinking gloomy thoughts!)
musicmanNZ
OK .. if it's 8 weeks I'm halfway through the wait .. 4 weeks down, 4 to go

but if I'm lucky like 'boredteacher' it might be 4 weeks arrrghhhh maybe tomorrow

I guess I'm just not very patient smile.gif

The moderator said "These are all carefully assessed in London, with an additional number of
examiners listening to the digital recording and making further assessment" especially as I just had 1 examiner not the usual 2.

ho hum .... hum ho .... twiddles thumbs clockwise .. twiddles thumbs anti-clockwise

Doesn't help I'm also waiting for my AS music exam results as well smile.gif

all ears
Well, best of luck for both!

...with another month to wait, you might like to get a start on planning your LRSM programme...heh heh

So now you can give us an estimate of how many people will get distinction at DipABRSM in 2008! tongue.gif

Fabulous news, I'm so pleased that you've done so well at such a tender age. hurrah.gif Hope your AS music results are equally good. On to LRSM in a couple of years then?
JohnS
What a great signature. You must still be doing cartwheels with such a good result. Congratulations! smile.gif

Thank you so much everyone.

It is nice to have a forum to share something like this - where people actually understand what was involved and what it means

Mum and Dad do of course .... Grandma and Grandpa " lovely darling" ( which they'd say no matter what it was cos they love me!!) Schoolmates " oh cool" (what's he skiting about) - that's the couple I tell, most I don't !!

Forum .... genuine congrats biggrin.gif

"On to LRSM in a couple of years then?" .... yes I hope so Berkshire Mum - that's my aim.

I was especially pleased with my Quick Study mark of 13 / 15 smile.gif and his comment "almost faultless" smile.gif

thank you again everyone

Hey I missed this thread. So let me add my congratulations to the chorus.

Not that a Distinction is any surprise - after seeing you play Beethoven's Variations in F on YouTube

(By the way - they seem to have been removed ).
