Full Version: Keyboard For A Young Beginner

I've done a search on the forums and I've tried various websites but can't find the information I need. I don't have any local shops where I could go and look. Maybe someone would be kind enough to point me in the right direction.

A nine year old girl who has been in a recorder group this year wants to learn to play the piano. She often goes to the piano and tinkers a bit and I think she probably is motivated. However, her parents are far from well off and count every euro. They obviously want to be sure she is motivated before they invest in a piano - there is no question of them spending a lot of money on an instrument at the moment. In the past I have had children start on a sythesiser and graduate to a piano later but I am hopelessly out of date on what sort of small keyboards are around now for a very reasonable price.

I would like something which wll stand her in reasonable stead up to about Grade 1.

Yamaha do a whole range of PSR keyboards which are good.

Here's the French Yamaha PSR site for you to investigate. smile.gif

Thanks JohnS. Since you say their range is good I have asked for their catalogue in the hope that it will give some idea of prices as online they don't seem to say.

You could look at the specification for each keyboard to see which is best for your pupil and then use a search engine to find a retailer in your region that sells it at an attractive price. There are some good deals about in this country with Yamaha keyboards, probably the same is true in France.
