I was just thinking how much more useful John Kember's "Violin Sight-reading: A Fresh Approach" is than the ABRSM samples as a teach-yourself resource for sightreading. (That is, the ABRSM books are practice material rather than a learning method, I guess).

I am not sure, grade-wise, what level the end of Part 2 reaches (not all that advanced, at a guess), but the organization is very nice, with notes at the beginning of each section, noting new keys, new forms, and revising performance directions. No doubt stuff that a canny person would think to check up for themselves.

However, if you are a real novice at sight-reading and don't have a teacher who works regularly on it, the timely reminders are very useful.
