I have never had a singing lesson and I have no natural aptitude for singing (or music in general) and I am wondering how to find a suitable teacher. Most teachers say they teach all ages and abilities, but my experience learning the piano has been some are much better than others. Some teachers seem to want to teach the same time every week only. Whilst this would suite me for the next few months in general it would not.
Any advice from other adult beginners (or anyone else).

And is there a difference between singing lessons and vocal coaching?

Hi Luca,
Go for it!
In general there is a slight difference between a coach and a teacher - a coach guides you on interpreting repertoire and a teacher teaches you vocal technique (so the teacher gives you the tools and the coach tells you how to use them) - having said that, that's really only in the classical world and these days most people do both - many teachers call themselves vocal coaches and vice versa, so just ask your new teacher if they also teach vocal technique as well as rep.
As for the time-slot, it will depend on the teacher - some teachers want the same each week so they can plan their income (which is fair enough) others are more flexible - choose what suits you.
Let us know how you get on.

(and some teachers offer classes by videoconference if students are far away from them - this might also be an option if you can't find anyone in your nearby area - but it requires a really high speed internet connection)
