this song is rated 10/10 for difficulty. i really love it, does anyone know how to play it? it was the song on the movie 'The Pianist' when he is in the attic. The music looks relatively easy to play but when i see someoneplaying it, it looks much harder.

Yeh it's pretty hard - I guess you wanna start playing the coda straight away and play it at a snails pace, gradually speeding up.

I've played it, never practiced to performance standard. Couldn't embelish much upon the theory of the piece - what kind of stuff are you looking for?

The first thing that you learn in college is that you have to go and find things out if you want to know them... If you want to know about the piece type it into google: you'll get a wealth of information, some of which won't be reliable but most of which will be helpful. Or go to a library and find some books about Chopin. It's not really something that can be done for you because no one knows exactly what you want to know. There's plenty of information out there, have a look.

Is that the bit in the film where the german soldier finds him hiding and makes him play something on the piano? If it is...what a fantastic piece of music!!

Yeh that's the one, but that is a shortened version (about 3 minutes as opposed to 10)

yes thats the one. i still cant believe that it earned a difficulty of 10/10!!!!! im afraid to approach it on my own and play it sloppy. you would have to be a concert pianist to play it perfectly.

Sorry about adding to the quotes but I mean't that I didn't expect a diploma standard piece to be called a ballade!
Oh, and I actually heard it before in my school's Piano Festival early this year played by a Yr.11........
