Hello,

Can any of you confirm whether or not the first variant has the same melody as the hymn "I Heard The Voice Of Jesus Say", please?

Thank you smile.gif

O-oh - I feel a new topic coming on - !

We've discussed various favourites on the organ forum - but I don't remember hymn tunes.

Should we keep it on the general forum so more people (not mainly organists) will see it ?

Kingsfold is a village on the Surrey/Sussex borders - not far from where RVW settled with his first wife in Dorking...

Ooh so we're getting geography too!

I've visited Down Ampney (Birthplace) - "Come down O Love divine". It's near Cirencester and there's a Roman Villa nearby. (We were on a family holiday in 1984)

Fine by me! As a (lapsed I have to say!! blush.gif ) Methodist, I love all the Charles Wesley tunes best.

"And Can It Be".."To God Be the Glory" etc etc. Not sure of the hymn tune names though, but feel free to post anyone party1.gif

Are we keeping this to RVW or looking at other composers of hymn tunes too?
DaisyChain
Looks like it's heading for a free for all!  Other composers/hymn tunes too if you like smile.gif

party1.gif indeed ! OK - too many to list really - but here are a few ...

Chorus Angelorum (Somervell's sublime tune to 'Praise to the Holiest')
Hereford (O Thou who camest from above)
Anima Christi (soul of my Saviour)
Trisagion (Stars of the Morning - maybe not so well known)
Palace Green
(ed ) oh and Westminster Abbey

and two plainsong ones -
The Royal Banners
O blest creator of the light - with that wonderful falling sequence in the last line.

And RVW's grave in the churchyard.

Favourite hymn tunes:

The aforementioned Kingsfold. wub.gif
Repton (Dear Lord and Father of Mankind).
Gonfalon Royal (The Royal Banners (as well!) or Lord Christ, who on thy heart did bear)
Picardy (Let all mortal flesh keep silent).
