Trinity-Guildhall offers several certificate examinations, i.e First Concert Certificate and Performer's Certificate, in violin subject (and I also believe in other subjects as well). However, if one gets any of these certificates, can one use it as a title at the end of the name? (Just like the title DipABRSM, LRSM, FRSM, LTCL, FTCL, AMusTCL, LMusTCL etc.)

No letters can be appended after ones name for the First Concert Certificate or the Performers Certificate. Neither of these are professional qualifications.
The former of the two is a performing certificate set at a level somewhere between Grade 5 and Grade 6, the latter can be viewed as a stepping stone between Grade 8 and a professional diploma.

I'm sure I've already answered this question today, but I can't see the answer anywhere

I have a feeling the question might have been double-posted, David. I think I 've seen it elsewhere too.
(ed) there is a thread with the same name on the general board ...
http://forums.abrsm.org/index.php?showtopic=31044I haven't checked to see if the content is precisely the same though.

Unless British law has changed recently, I believe that you can put whatever you like after your name, provided it's not done in order to deceive or commit fraud.

I did that on a concert programme once, it started off with my real letters and then added things like:
BBC, RSJ, KGB

Once, entirely be accident, I was listed on an event programme and given an offcial id pass (nothing to do with music) as Lord 'Spodge'. The fawning and scraping I encountered, from presumably normally sensible people, was quite unbelievable and I don't think I've ever been 'sir-ed' quite so often in my life. What was interesting and bodes well for furture meritocracy was that nobody under 30 was in the least impressed!
