my piano teacher said to me after i'd played my other 2 exam pieces. 'you played those 2 beautifully, what happend to the 1st one!' LOL

Allegro molto is just a matter of knowing exactly where to go ,it'll improve, honestly - you are probably being too critical of yourself - it's hard to notice yourself improving when you hear yourself every day! It is a nice light piece and the less you worry about it the better it will sound

I know what you mean Nat I felt the same way about this piece. Although you probably are improving, think back to how it was several months ago. Whenever I played this piece I always felt that I would trip up somewhere. I think it is just one of the pieces that needs lots and lots of practice both hands together and hands separately.

May be what you need is confidence. Just say: "I can play this piece perfectly and I
will play this piece perfectly"
[Well this helped for my G8 piece Sacro Monte!

lol cecilia!
the thing is i practise loads, every single day and it still sounds terrible. my teacher did say that there was a big difference in the way i played Allegro Molto and my other pieces, in other words allegro etc was awful and the others were good!

Have you tried any others from that group?
Maybe one of them suits you better.

i dont really like the others and its a bit too late to start learning a new piece in my situation, when im doing grade 6 ones as well. i have my lesson tomorrow so ill see how it goes. i just feel i cant get through a few bars without stumbling or doing something wrong. whether this is right or not i dont care but im going to just aim to scrape a 20 with Allegro Molto adn hopefully get slightly better marks in the others, well thts the idea but if nerves take over.............who knows

How long have you got before the exam? it must be at least 4 weeks so you still have lots of time to get it better.

Don't panic..just keep practising and don't give up! It is such a nice piece of music and you'll be so happy when you get it right. I got 28/30 on this piece

which bit(s) do you find hard? I remember you had trouble with the fp's a while ago...are they better yet? Also have you got a copy of the CD? It helped me a lot to hear someone play it really well
If you haven't got a date yet you must have at least a month before the exam so just keep going...and remember the important rule of practising - concentrate on the bits you find hardest, don't just play it through from start to finish.

'A good consistant flow with a sense of shape and balance, and well managed pedal. The dynamics had charm. The legato could be smoother here'

No, don't get the cd - they play it about ten times faster and mess around with the time as well - it really panicked me!

Don't worry too much I stumbled on this one in the exam, and in fact so did the person before me who stopped and had to start again which did my nerves no good at all. I still managed to get 24 which I know isn't brilliant but better than 20. I also managed to get a high merit overall by bringing up the marks on my other pieces.

i havent got my date yet so ill plod along but hopefully ill play the other pieces good to bring my marks up
