There was an RSMAD open day on Wednesday which I was unfortunately unable to attend. I have now been given the cahnce to visit on an alternate date which will give me a chance to ask some quesiotns.

Firstly, I would like to know if anyone has attended open days for music courses and what kind of questions you asked if so.

Secondly, could anyone give me any ideas of things I could ask, because at the moment I am drawing a real blank.

Thanks for any help!

I went to the RSAMD Open Day and really liked it. The questions you ask depend and what concerns you about music college, for example the amount of time allocated to second study, the number of players of your instrument accepted each year, what are the opportunities for playing in ensembles, are you able to choose your teacher, what funding and scholarships are available etc. I just asked all the questions that sprung into my mind and they were very happy to answer, the same was the case at the RNCM, B'ham and RCM Open Days.

Hope that helps! biggrin.gif

I completely agree with the above. Don't think you have to sound 'clever'. The open day is only about you finding out what you need to know. You're not being interviewed. You're interviewing them, and checking out whether or not you'd like to spend the next 3 or 4 years of your life there doing a course that meets your expectations.

Just ask yourself.[b]....What are my expectations? What would I like from the next x years?

Open days are a brilliant idea. I always urge everyone to attend as many as they can.

Have fun.
