There is one called Dawsons if i remember rightly which is near the town centre.... on Portland Street.

Yes, Forsyths is excellent. But there is rather a lot of it - so you might like to take an overnight bag!
There's one now that I believe is called Sound Control. It used to be Academy of Sound or something like that. It's just next to Oxford Road Station. Just come down the steps and turn left, it's just next to the pub that's under the bridge.
I am in Manchester! How exciting! Woo hoo!

Well, I had a nice time in Forsyths! Had a good browse of all the piano books and the music gifts!
I bought lots of stuff, including a clarinet fridge magnet which was really cute with the metal keys as well (no grand piano ones though)!
Then I went upstairs and had a go on all the grand pianos for a while (!)
I was seriously tempted by the sales lady at one stage ... but thankfully I came to my senses just in time! 
Not as big as Chappell's in London but more than sufficient to keep one happy for at least half a day...

Glad you enjoyed Forsyths! A group of us went there at the Chets summer school and pretty much bought half the stock!
