I found a good starter book today in WH Smiths. 'Dyspraxia' (Developmental Co-ordination Disorder) by Dr Amanda Kirby. An easy to read book with lots of helpful advice with some insights in to how parents feel, might react etc.
I'm also going to order another on Music and Dyslexia tomorrow.
Jane S - I probably wouldn't say anything to parents if everything is going fine with lessons

I do believe though it is important to be aware and to nip problems in the bud as early on in a parent/teacher relationship if possible. Trust those gut feelings if something doesn't feel quite right at the beginning then it's probably easier to deal with.
Don't worry Cambiata, I'm usually guilty of too much diplomacy, particularly when it is time to get those invoices out!!

One of my favourite pupils has told me off for not being tough enough about payment. She's lovely and has kept me going when I was ready to think

and try and join the Foreign Legion. She was much too nice to remind me that it is 25 years too late and my knees just wouldn't stand it.
