So, me and Mr Babybird2 quite fancy going on holiday towards the end of August (maybe a bit soon without booking...) Anyway, we quite fancy somewhere nice and sunny, beach would be nice Has anyone got any ideas? Thanks very much

Off the top of my head, maybe somewhere like Malta? It's as loud or as quiet as you want it to be, has a number of lovely beaches, bags of history and plenty that makes it unique.

Malta will be very hot in August, so it depends on how hot you like it. I went there in half term and enjoyed it immensely.
If you want wall to wall sunshine, the Canaries are good, and have a sea breeze too.
Many friends like the West coast of France.
Personally I like Britain in the summer, and will be off to Cornwall soon, where the beaches are second to none.

We have enjoyed Greece at the end of the summer - although yes, it will be hot.
The Halkidiki peninsula has some nice beaches, (fly to Thessaloniki and it's to the south) and you can usually get away from the busy spots - we hired a motor scooter one year and that was great fun.
